Ok, we got the idea, we got the pontential investors, we got even a business plan and a legal review of the situation......seems that we are set to go...but...but are we sure we do know how to deal with the dark side of the business in LOS??? Entertainment and expecially bars & MP are under the influance of people that is not easy to deal with! You need a strong connection within the police or similar and in most cases this implies a strong Thai partner, thus a weaker farang position......on the paper looks not that difficult but in the real life, it's a very risky situation!
OK, I'm not saying anything new and most of the brothers knows...but since we do know we should think very carefully if entering the entertainment business is deal or not!
Based on my knowledge, farangs involved in this kind of business always encounter lot of difficulties and the ones that really enjoy the huge profits are the Thais!
All this just to say that if we are able to manage also this issue, than I could be very happy to open my wallet and join the project!

there are a couple of farangs who would proove you different.
the only thai connection you need is the girl supply and your friendly helpers in brown. but they are not as expensive as you think. at least not for rosemarys bar...
another thought. why would you want to open a gogo, where everybody complains that the beer is to expensive at 110 baht, and there are legions, if you could open a no hand restaurant were beers are served for 160 baht and ladydrinks at 180 baht and still everybody has a good time?? and you would only have two competitors.

After reading the whole thread I think I agree with you about some of the success factors-
Owners shouldnt mix bussiness with pleasure- no dipping their wicks in company ink, no free drinks (only at cost price), no house comps for friends etc etc. If you get people who are serious about a long term commitment to a bussiness then it could be a success.
The only concerns are what have been mentioned before. Maybe it would be easier to just have a proper bar (as opposed to a gogo bar) where u can still barfine a tg but without the whole entertainment side of it- to avoid the local politics and license issues.
Let me know what u are thinking about exactly and also where.
