i thought i was doing quite well on solid ground, but the bouncy inflated area around the mechanical bull was a different matter altogether. and at least i managed to walk out of that bar, which i gladly did because the atmosphere was rather dire.

SL, yeah we tried that bull a few weeks ago, its pathetic, they should get a full size one with all the gear and then really fire it up, that would be fun to watch instead of that little slippery arsed midget thing.

I agree that the issues you raise are far more important - at least, they are to me. If a bar's a bore, I just don't want to go there no matter how cheap or pricey their beer is (OK, to be realistic, I'll have a look-in occasionally just to see if things have changed).
If a hypothetical GG could guarantee me a good atmosphere and girls with a good attitude, then I certainly wouldn't begrudge them higher prices (within reason!). I'd reckon they were using part of the loot to get in better quality management, which is where too many of the bars fall down. Ý

How are NEP drinks prices on average at the moment? Ive read reports still of around 125 Baht (approx £2.) but that some places are now selling spirits and such like are of a higher quality (branded: Finlandia, Gordons etc) ?

I wasnt complaining Hermanbolo. Just under £1.85 for a drink seems reasonable I guess? I can get a drink at my local pub for £1 but it wouldnt be Thailand Id be drinking it in.

The local pubs now charge up to £3 for a pint of Guinness. Real Ale is not too far behind that. Bottle beers are usually quite expensive anyway. Wetherspoons are much cheaper but they are not always where you want to relax and have a drink.
Even now I can remember my favourite 'Young's Special' at 34p a pint ! That's 20 Baht, mind you that was in 1977 !

But seriously, by my calculations that's maybe $3.15 US, about $4 per drink cheaper than any titty bars around Chicago and still cheaper than regular bars, albeit by merely maybe $.35. This, still isn't the end of the world...
