The newest entry is The Brick.... between soi Office and Soi BBQ, near the upscale beauty salon. It has two distinguishing features: 1) it is not named after a dead painter, and 2) a great many bricks were used in the decoration of the place. Standard barstool layout on the ground floor... pool upstairs. Girls about the same standard as the rest of the strip. Nice and quiet.

I keep in mind that the Soi 33 girls that will sleep with a customer probably make less per month than the average gogo girl, simply because the higher barfine limits the number of customers they have. This provides for a "fresher" girl, and someone who can possibly work with you to make the Soi 33 pricing no more than a gogo.
re: barfine, I paid the 1500 baht barfine once for the little sparkplug I see from Soi33 (Soi33CanDo!). The other two times I saw her, the first time she met me after work and the second time she paid her own barfine (or took a holiday day, not sure which). When I come back at the end of March, I told her I would see her two days straight but only if she took her holiday days. She agreed. I pay her the LT rate of a gogo girl. I can assure you that she is hot-looking. 
The lesson is that once they get to know you and like you, the cost structure of the Soi33 barfine can be worked around.
But you probably need to invest some time in them to make this happen. I don't mind because I like the bars on Soi 33 and prices are low before 9pm. I am rarely there after that time. There are two additional Soi 33 girls I am "working" on right now. It's fun.
I don't think many people walk into Monet, buy one drink, point to one of the girls in a long dress and say "Are you good to go ST? LT? How much? When you leave tomorrow? Let's go."

I was in Christie's in February and found the place a total rip off. I don't mind the prices, I mind the attitude. I didn't mind the 160 Baht a beer, but I was found the 360 Baht just to have the girl talk to me outrageous. I paid for the beer and gave the girl the change and left. The whole idea behind the Soi 33 bars, and such places as the Ava Pub on Soi 11, as I understand it, is to provide a "upscale" atmosphere with better looking, higher educated girls, who can speak your language. NOT THE CASE. I"ve been in VERY one of them and I have yet to see anything better looking than any girl I've seen in any other bar in BKK or just walking down Sukhumvit Road at 3 AM. I just don't see the "value" in the Soi 33 bars. I just see another venue for ripping off the tourist.

During happy hours prices are not that much higher than other bars (gogo/beer bars), but most Soi 33 bars provide a nicer atmosphere than those bars while the average 'quality' of the girls is undeniable higher.
Many of the girls are students in the daytime. However, their language skills are not better by definition than gogo or beer bar girls...

There is no doubt that happy hour in Soi 33 has been getting longer over the years. It has also acquired some cheaper drinking holes such as the Office etc.
A friend of mine once said, "Why should I go To 33, they are not much better than Cowboy except they dress up"
Excuse me!!!!!! That is exactly the attraction, the girls are groomed, showered and kitted out in attractive clothes. they have more poise and are generally a lot more attractive because of it.
When you mix the attractive girls with the cheap drinks in happy hour you get a winning combination that no Cheap Charlie Nana regular could deny.
I am also told that a surprising larger number of ex Artistes become mia nois than the beer bar or go go girls but I have not been able to confirm this.
Christie's is not the best. I have found the girls there most unappealing and uncultured. It depends on the Mamasan.
Of course these are just my views and some enjoy the sleaziness of go go bars.

You hit the nail on the head. Also, the average Soi33 is physically more attractive than the average go-go girl, in my opinion... at least at the places on Soi33 I go.
Taking girls from there... I have gone out with three of them, one I paid barfine for, the others we worked ways around it.
Aeroman took two Soi33 cuties to a movie and dinner last weekend. He said he had a great time and last night, I was teasing the girls about how much Aeroman said they ate in MK.
As far as cost, Soi 33 during happy hour is very reasonable. Went to three bars last night, about 3 hours, I spent less than I would in a go-go and had more pleasant company. But if you show yourself to not care about how many lady-drinks are bought, they will flow fast and furious. It is "up to you".
Soi 33 can be sanook mahk at very little cost.
