Yes, it seems a shame that things have changed so much. And they have, for the worse.
But let's not be too jumpy about placing the responsibility for this at the shuffling feet of the girls or the bar owners.
Over the past ten or more years, Bangkok has seen a change in the sorts of people who come here, both to visit and to work and live here.
I've seen guys go into Go-Go bars and the girls have tried to be friendly and approachable without pestering them, and all they've got was a '"uck off" response by the 'big' men.
So I quite understand the girls pulling back and not being so friendly or approachable.
Who needs to be insulted or verballly abused just because they work in a Go Go bar ?
These girls are very young and forthe most part,are not that seasoned. Few of them like to be groped openly in the bar in front of their frends and those few only because it might mean a better chance of being bar-fined.
The Dolls House is not the Star of Light. Some guys fall into the idea that if something goes in one place, they can do it in another. Wrong.
And the bar owners aren't going to risk the clientele being annoyed even if it is such a empty show of what these guys percieve as being so tough.
A small percentage of guys, from all walks of life, don't know how to behave either in a Go-Go or with a girl, so being uncouth seems to be the easy route they take so that they can walk away with undamaged pride based on falsity.
As for the Dolls House Go-Go girls, I'd give them a thumbs up and more every day. There are a few I'd avoid,as in any bar. But for the most part, they are really good fun to be with, on and off the premises.
Last one I took from there, wanted to follow up with freebies for a few nights, just so that she could rest from the dancing.
I assured her that she wouldn't be resting.
That didn't stop her, nor me, thankfully.

Visitors to Bangkok may have changed. But that doesn't explain the fact that Dollhouse seems less sanuk than any other big bar in Cowboy. I keep giving it a chance and it keeps sucking. Other bars are friendly. Other bars generate atmosphere. Why can't Dollhouse? The last 20 times I've been in there it's been lacklustre. Just not sanuk. The last time it even smelt bad!
I kind of blame the music. Does it ever change from slow hip hop?
This used to be a great bar too.

I've never found that the place had a smell at all. Were you sitting next to a beer and vomit soaked farang ?
It does get crowded in the night.
But I agree with you in as much as....... the Dollshouse is different not only in the sort of music that they play, which may be down to the current DJ and also the atmosphere and the behaviour.
I put this down to a management style who knows Cowboy and maybe have come across the reactions of guys who drift from one bar to the other and find that a lot of them are the same and therefore wish to make it slightly different
Certainly, a lot of the girls are great and when you get them out of the bar, they can prove to be just as sanuki-nooki as any of the other girls in Cowboy if not more so.

No, I'm not from Sydney.
I've known a couple of the staff there a while and have mentioned the dirge of the music to them. They said it's because the manager likes it.
I'm of the belief that the right music can help a lot to get girls in the right mood and it's a mistake to cater solely for customer musical tastes, let alone the manager's!

I agree with you on all points.
Maybe if enough guys spoke out about the lack of good music the manager might force himself to change his own taste. Seems a bit selfish especially since most of his clientel are not of the generation who likes slow hip hop.
Maybe there should be a suggestion box at the door or a customer satisfaction form to fill in as feed-back for the management of these places.
I know what I'd put for the Dollhouse.
'I don't want slow hip hop.
And I want those chicks raw and naked.'
But then, that's just me.
They can't please everybody.

Let's see, Dollhouse music boring and repetative,manager tunnel visioned and arrogant,,, does he own an iphone and tell everyone about his Apple shares?
People tend to vote with their feet, so time will see change here, just a matter of time.
I actually thyink the gals should have some say in the music,, lets face it they have to spend many many hours there, but ultimately it is the customer base that needs to be satisfied.
