Bros, I know this topic has been discussed a few times here and I have reading previous posts on it... I'm Singaporean, born and raised here just like my parents were and I'm Indian(which poses a few problems in LOS). I have been to LOS a few times already but than again my experience there is not vast so just need your feedback... From my previous posts..you probably know that I was denied entry into Long Gun and another bar at NEP(can't remember the name). Well I'm preparing for another trip to LOS in October and it would really help me if you guys would clue me in on other establishments that will turn away somebody like me(Indian). This is so I don't have to visit these establishments and ruin my trip.... Any input would be great...

Long Gun used to be my favourite bar, but as a result of this and other examples I decided to vote with my feet for the time being and not bother. Haven't been for a month and have heard it's quiet anyway. It'll be hurt enough by the lack of shows. Another bar I have heard it about is Rainbow. I don't go there and won't start. I have a very good Indian friend in Bangkok, he listed one more in Cowboy that refused him. I'll get the name next time I see him and post that as well...(braincells allowing)

Sorry, Rainbow...NEP right hand side Ground Floor. You might want to avoid Playskool, heard the same but my friend has never had a problem there. I usually tend to wait until I get first hand accounts before I stop going somewhere, though Playskool is off my fave list as well these days. I also went to Long Gun with a friend of Pakistani origin who is from the US...he experienced no problems, so it often fits their mood and who is at the door. It's so unecessary. My friend had it explained to him that Indian buy one drink and take all night to drink it. He I can assure you spends more than enough to get accepted anywhere, so they lose by barring him so he finds it amusing.

Yurune, Playskool as well.... From your directions to Rainbow...it could possibly be the one that I got turned away from...all I remember was that it was on the ground floor to the right as well. Oh well...'Indians by 1 drink and take the whole night to finish it'....when it comes to discrimination thats a new one I've heard of...but to hell with them...right? As you mentioned its their loss at the end of the day!

Kenny, Just wondering where you are from? Coz if you are Caucasian(or possibly Asian Chinese) and you accompany your Indian friend it is a little easier for him to get into establishments that normally bar Indians. I don't normally worry about it but after a couple of bad experiences I would rather give these places a miss...if you know what I mean.

I'm caucasian , and have been turned away from establishments in Hat Yai that cater for Malaysians/Muslims etc. In Bangkok I think the problem isn't helped by the separate areas for whites and non-whites, ie Grace Hotel area caters for Arabs/Africans , I have been made to feel uncomfortable on more than one occasion trying to enter a bar in this area. Other times I have had no problem. I have also seen a black guy told in the Soi 7 Beer garden " We don't want you here" In Pattaya a Sri Lankan friend and his family were turned away from the Montien Hotel....its a shit world sometimes. These experiences have been over 17 years and thankfully fairly isolated.

Bok Hah, Thanks for sharing your views...as much as discrimination is still around in today's society no matter where you are...I take consolation in the fact that it is not that widespread and as you put it 'isolated'. Reading you post on your friend's experience in Pattaya at a major hotel is indeed...shocking! I would have never guessed that an establishment like that would practice such discrimination. Even here in Singapore the minority races do feel a little discrimination but I'm happy to say that this usually comes from people who are uneducated or just plain stupid...so I usually brush it aside. The reason why I started this thread is so I can give theses places that discriminate against a certain person based purely on their skin colour and nothing else... Peace out...
