I was reading another board where they stated that Cowboy was closed last night at 1 and further that the MIB wanted to close NEP but thought better of it due to much heckling and harassing.
If true seems like they have managed to sneak earlier closing in.

Left SC last night after 04.30 (approx.) and at least 2 places were still rocking. Motocycle police past by when I left my 'home'. and didn't blink at all.
So, not closed.

i was at soi cowboy last night started closing at one o clock still drunk until two just meant a fresh bill everytime we ordered drinks so more tip for them girls started covering up 1.30. I was out with my brother in law (thai ) got a bit out of hand we were still drinking at 10.30 this morning in front of the dynasty inn, took two freelancers from nana coffeshop th nearby s.t hotel
orchard inn or something like that yes I know I am an areshole whats new perfect excuse though.

2 am last night in Cowboy and it looks like it will stay that way.
The 1 am closing on the 1st was a "mistake".
The coppers were waiting for the word from above in both Nana and Cowboy. When there was no instruction issued in Nana the MIB packed up their bats and balls and went home. No so for an overzealous junior officer in Cowboy who took it upon himself to close the street.

This really makes you wonder about the whole concept of 'face', and how messed up is it really. Okay, disclaimer: It's Thai culture, and there is an incredibly complex set of dynamic rules that us westerners, no matter, can never understand.
That being said - isn't it a greater loss of face, to come up with draconian rules, only to have to abandon them, than to not make the rules to start with (or at least try to figure out if they are either enforceable, or supported) ?
Maybe I see it all wrong, but certainly would find it a greater loss of face to have everyone laugh at me for failing in establishing and enforcing these rules - and I would assume that bar owners all over Thailand are considering the MPs that tried to push this legislation through a laughing stock.
Obviously, we can only speculate, but I think it is tehse kind of examples that really expose the rift between our culture and theirs.
Of course, that shan't stop me from enjoying the spoils....

well harry.
on saturday a paper was served in nana. saying that 1 am. closing is in effect from 04.04.04. whoever will not comply will have his license revoked.
I wasn't really sure, nobody really wasn't, so I did not post this earlier.
BUT IT HAPPENED.
word had it that cowboy and patpong was closed 1 am aswell. was it??
now all hope that this 1 am thing will not be permanent and only last a week...
