I am not talking about ping-pong balls or taking the tops off soda bottles ! I am talking about shows. Do you like just to watch the girls shuffling around to music against a pole or a proper choreographed routine with sexy costumes with musin to match the movement?? Obviously not top class 'West-End' performances but something a little more entertaining and involving imagination on both sides. Imagination with the dance routines that provokes erotic imagination in the viewer ? Or do you just want to have a beer, could not care too much about the music and indulge in amateur gynaecology observation ??????

As a proud graduate of the Seymour Pussy Hollywood Upstairs School of Gynecology, I'd throw my vote to the pole polishers. Have yet to see an attempt at a staged show that didn't make me wince in embarassment for the participants. The best choreography any bar can do is to teach the girls to get on and off the stage in an orderly manner.

I have seen some attempts to put on a show. Done well it can be very sexy !!! Better than just pole polishing !! But imagination and creativity are needed. The girls only need to know basic steps and movement. The costumes, music and lighting should do the rest. I reckon I could make you slobber if I had the right venue??

Well, I think some of the shows at places like Long Gun are quite well done, but even those get very repetitive. Do you need to see any of them more than twice at most? The ping-pong ball stuff is just dire, of course. What I'd really like to see is a LOT more imagination go into differentiating the bars. Why the hell hasn't Sheba's (Cowboy) got a proper Ancient Egyptian ambience - complete with Nubian slaves, ostrich feathers, girls in Egyptian costumes & wigs & so on? We could have Roman bars, Inca bars, Wild-west bars, Geisha bars, Sci-fi bars, flower-power nostalgia bars... well, you name it. Instead, it's always just the same old, same old.

Wild West - Long Gun (SC) Geisha - Suzie Wongs (SC) Sci-fi - What's Up (pattaya) flower power - Woodstock (NEP) But, end of the day, it's really how well she does the usual pole dancing (back at your hotel).

well, if the shows are done nicely and aestethic i certainly prefer them (the best examples right now are angelwitch in nep, living dolls and polo both in pattaya). i am just sick of these so called shows of legsspreading and some guys staring in all different holes of the female anatomie. as long as the shows aren't stylish i will always opt for the chrome polishers! plus chrome polishing has the advantage that ypu can see what's on display. i hate when the lights get dimmed for any show!

Thaifan Yeah, but such theming is usually very superficial and perfunctory. What I'm talking about is the bars trying to deliver a significantly different experience from other venues. To be fair to Long Gun, it did do this - and with very successful results (I mean commercially successful). In another field, Eden is also a very good example of successful differentiation. OK, of course it will all boil down to the quality of staff in the end - as with any service business. But imho there is too much lazy copy-catting of standard formulae in the P4P scene.

I guess I'm just too orthodox but I go to an a-go-go to see girls dance naked. Anything else is just a big dent in my ogling time. Bar theming is sort of pointless in my view. I know the owners are trying to differentiate themselves, build a brand or some other high-falutin' concept. But it doesn't grab me. And all those extras just mean a higher outlay, a longer time to recoup and higher prices. Who cares what's on the walls. griffin: "plus chrome polishing has the advantage that ypu can see what's on display. i hate when the lights get dimmed for any show!" Yah, I'm with you on that. The only time cutting the lights works for me at all is a body painting show. The girls tend to slow it down and writhe, plus a nude silhouette in blacklight is hot. Arcadius: "But imho there is too much lazy copy-catting of standard formulae in the P4P scene." Agree, but you can only take it so far before you're not an a-go-go anymore. A lot of similarity is because of conceptual constraints, legal requirements, size of bribe and market pressures. The scene has room for only so many glass-ceilinged frog bars. The whole impact of that concept has waned to zero now.
