Brown Sugar near lumpini park is excellent especially friday and saturday. There is the Oriental bangkok. Also Saxophone but it is near victory monument---best on Fri-Sat-Sun. There is also "Glaz Bar" at ther Plaza Athenee near Phloen Chit BTS station

Also, Fabb Italian Restaurant and jazz club on Ploenchit, a few blocks from Le Meridian Hotel. Closer to Sukhumvit than either Brown Sugar or Saxophone Pub, but more expensive for a better dining and listening experience.

If you want expensive dining and listening don't forget Glaz Bar in the Plaza Athenee...right at Phloen Chit.
And if you want world class expensive dining and listening there is the Oriental. If you have a date you can take her on the Oriental River Taxi.

I did not like the food at Fabb too much; I guess I went on an off night. If you like Italian then Angellini's in the Shangri La hotel is the best I have found when I am missing Italian food.

The saxaphone is my recomendation. They generally have three bands each night which will have a certain theme - either blue or jazz oriented.
The decor is quite "jazz bar dingy" ie all wood and smoke on three levels, each overlooking the band.
It has won "best live music venue bangkok" several times and well worth more than one visit.

Food is pretty good. Last time, I had the rack of lamb. This place is more expensive than the others but the food and the band are better. My TG was quite impressed with the bathroom.
