There was another thread recently about when you should and should not pay a barfine.
I would be interested in any thoughts on the following experience l had recently.
I go to a couple of beer bars to watch some sport on cable and to have a cold beer. Always talk to the girls but l choose to go home alone. In one bar there is one girl l always chat with, buy the occasional drink etc. She never asks for anything, always pleased to see me, l even have to suggest a drink and then it’s just a Coke or juice, nothing fancy, no buy a drink for my friend either, so the picture l’m painting is of a friendly girl who l know well enough over time to believe she wouldn‘t rip me off for a few hundred baht.
Recently l popped in, had a drink and said that l would have to move on to another bar for a couple of hours to see a particular sports telecast her bar wasn't showing, but l would be back past her way near closing time so if she wanted to join me for something to eat she was welcome. A few months ago l went out with her at about 6pm for some food and paid the bar fine, no problem.
Anyway l get back there at midnight, the lights are out, the shutters are almost down as the place closes up. She is out the front, pleased to see l have made it back and l ask if she would still like to join me for a meal before l head home. No problem she says, but you have to pay bar. Huh? The place is closing, she’s finished work for the night and l have to barfine her? I told her sorry, but l’m not going to pay a barfine when the place is already closed so she goes back in to ask and returns to tell me that l have to pay. Okay then, l’m off home if that’s the case. Wait she says, goes back inside and returns to say she is joining me. I find out later that she had to pay her own barfine just to go eat with me.
I’ve seen the explanations on this forum that barfines are to compensate the bar for lost income as every girl who leaves the bar with a customer means one less girl to drag in another customer to help sell drinks but paying a barfine when the place is closed seems crazy to me. I’m a regular at this bar so they know l never take a girl home and yes l know l could have arranged to meet her elsewhere but should l really have to do that?

Why didn't you just tell her to meet you at xx Restaurant, or even around the corner from the bar ??
She seems a bit of a newbie at this.
I don't think she paid her own BF, but that's just my opinion. She was trying to make you feel guilty. If she wanted to go and they wouldn't let her, all she had to do was wait for the bar to fully close.
and yes, You Really have to do that (arrange to meet elsewhere).

It all depends on the Bar Fine policy of that bar. Some bars have a quota for the girls, if they do not achieve that quota, they may get a pay-cut or not get their bonus. Some bars don't care. There is always a reason behind what seems illogical here.

still usual practice if the mamasan sees you hooking up with a girl after hours the girl might face big problems from the mamasan/owner. to avoid loss of face for her and possible problems better pay the barfine!
more easy to not pay in places like nep with a lot of girls, sure the chances are slim that she will be get caught with you, but in a beer bar everybody will know!

I prefer not to barfine. use the extra cash for her or a few drinks.
but sometimes you have to. I call it "prima notte".
after that she will be in my phonelist.

sometimes it's unavoidable, but if the girl really likes you, she'll stick her neck out..
but why are we bothered anyway..??
By 2am, we should have had plenty of time to hook up.
the PlaySkool GroinInMyFaceGal certainly wasn't into waiting the 20 minutes to meet me outside, so that just means I'm her mark... and time to move along.

So you wait till 2am to save 300Baht in a Beer Bar or 500-600 in a Nana or Cowboy Go Go! Much better to take them out early, enjoy there company and get them to bed early for a triple round! IMHO.

best deal is if you have a gal with a friend.
You BF her, and already know her friend, then when you're still on the piss at 2am, You have her dial up her cutie friend to meet you for a nightcap, and some sandwich action...
AND, gal#2's bar can't accuse her of being with you, cause you were with gal#1

A real problem with some bars is they are very against the girls hooking up after hours. As someone above says it would have been better to meet her elsewhere but as bkkz says also, she may have to meet a barfine monthly quota also.
Was in a bar in Soi cowboy last month with a friend and was chatting to one of the girls. Said I might pop back later to barfine her but it got late and never got round to it. Had seen her the previous night on Sukhumvit Rd after hours having a drink and that particular night she came over to the same place knowing I might be there.
Took her to the hotel but she asked to see me again but to take her out of the bar next time. Did so a couple of nights later...she was a bit shocked I actually turned up.
