I know it may seem odd for a punter like myself, but I find that I really do not like the typical bar scene in BKK: the gogo bars are too much of a meat market and I don’t like the competition of the beer bars. I also don’t like the loud music and aggressive women that both seem to have. I prefer the fishbowl environment of the MPs, but I don’t much like the formulaic shower-massage-screw-massage-screw-shower procedure. To me the best of both worlds would be a place where you could pick a girl in a stress-free setting (like an MP fishbowl), then have a drink and conversation (bar style), but in a somewhat quieter setting. Then off to the extras, of course!
Is there anything like this in LOS, or am I dreaming?

So take a TG LT from a MP. Stop off at GT for some food/drink, sit in the back eating, conversing, and maybe playing some pool, then to the hotel. Seems simple enough.

rperrin60, from your original post, there are a couple of Soi33 places you might like to visit. Dali and Monet come to mind. Especially Monet - after 7:00pm, there are about 20 girls lined up behind the bar, you can start to have your drink and see who strikes your fancy. Then, you can go back to the couches and have a drink with her.
I suggest you clarify what she will and will not do outside the bar.
Counter39 might be another place worth visiting. I am not aware of a place exactly as you describe.

Which bars on soi 33 would you guys recommend on going first for a first timer to bangkok. Somewhere that is fairly lively and slightly more luxurous. Thanks.

I met a young lady in an after hours pool hall on Soi Cowboy and had a great time getting to know a bit about her that night. Found out she worked at Long Gun so I showed up the next night and barfined her immediately right after the bar opened. Suggested we go to a movie and out for dinner but she really wanted to play pool at some bar. Told her it was my way or no way and that I would come back for her later if she did not want to do the movie and dinner. We went to see "shutter" which was a surprisingly great movie and very scary. I really enjoyed standing up for the short film about the King of Thailand. Very different atmosphere from the US. We then went for a bit of food and then back to the hotel room. We listened to some Thai Music on my iPod (Kevlin Kortland) and it was amazing listening to this thai lady sing to me. Overall just a great night and my favorite GFE in Thailand to date. Doing something a bit different from sitting in a bar all night buying drinks is not as much fun as taking one of the ladies out for a real GFE/BFE and getting to know them a little better.
