Looking forward to my 2nd trip to LOS. Not a big drinker, any alternatives to beer in the bars, e.g. diet soda, ice tea? Last time I tried ordering a diet soda the waitress just looked at me puzzled so I kept ordering beer and didn't drink most of it. Don't laugh, but I can probably handle more TG's than drinks.

I sometimes order bottled water. This way you know that they are not serving your tap water. Also, if you do ask for bottled watere, make sure they open the bottle infront of you. You never know what you might be served. You can also just order a coke or pepsi. I am not sure if they understand the word "diet", especially in regards to liquid as in soda.

depends where you are I guess ; have a buddy always asks for diet Coke, - which 99% of the time brings the smile, OK, yes, we have, and he gets a normal coke ! - just have to go for bottled water [ nam plao ] or Soda water, available everywhere, as many Thais drink whiskey with either soda, or soda and water. - This is of course if you wander away from the torist areas/hotels.

As for me, actually I am a non-drinker. Would you believe it that the only time when I drink is when I go to Thailand - I don't drink when I'm back in my home-country.

Talking about drinks, ment to raise this issue for a long time:
so far I don't think I have experienced any dangerous drinks, i.e. any with something in it not ment to be - drugs - but is there any risk in any known place for bad drinks, i.e. drugging you for later exploitation?
(Yes guys, I know alcoholic drinks are drugs - but thats volountary and I know what am doing if I get what I ask for, I get volountary exploitation) Its "drugged" drinks I am concerned about. TPE - any inside Information?

Something that happened to me!!
I took a working female to the night club Sparks. She had asked me earlier if I had ever tried Xtacy, the drug. I said no, and then also told her that I don't like to be around anyone that uses drugs. I can drink alcohol and know if I am getting drunk. I can not prove anything, but i swear she put something in my drink. I had a weird sensation through my body and was having problems walking. Anyways, I quickly talked with my other friends that were there and they took my immediately back to the hotel and dismissed the female. I drank plenty of water that night and felt much better in the morning.
Now, all I am saying is that anyone can slip something into your drinks, so be aware and be safe.

lets hope you just met the wrong girl. TG's and sex with drugs is another sensitive topic I think we should discuss on this forum.
I think the girls who take drugs and do it to cope with the sex or to increase the drive expose their habit at some stage (in my exerience). I think the problem is that they are more careless with protection and disease. I have not met a drug abuser amongst the girls in LOS yet, to my knowledge, but I t hink we have to asume it exists.
Guys: Any views on hidden drug habits with the girls, which may gove us/them problems with disease? Is it random or by location?

PussyLover 69 why do you not drink back in your home country? Just curious as it sounds a little like my situation... I'm basically am a non-drinker, and I think this will be advantageous while in LOS, but I've considered trying some of the beers while in Thailand.
I probably won't, but I think beer can be a tasty treat!
