So you want to own a go go bar in Bangkok? Let's run through the numbers, bet with all of our knowledge we could come up with the truth.....
Let's call our bar the XYZ bar on CS. It is a decent neough place, middle of the Soi and has around 60 girls working.
I think we woul dhave to assume that 40 girls will be barfined per night at a rate of 500 baht per girl so that gives us 20,000 baht per nioght in BF's, but the bar will keep 50% og that so we have a starting point of making 10,000 baht per night form BF's. Revenue: 300,000 per month.
Now let's move over to the monthly salary of the staff... bettwen the dancers and staff there is probably 75 total people in the bar at let's assume 9,000 baht per month each.... expense: 675,000 per month
Drink revenue... well, this is all guestamites.... I have to think a bar like this (medium sized) will do around 80,000 Baht per day on average..... 2.4 million per month.
Rent: ??????
utilities: ??????
protection: ?????
So we have a base of 2.7 million per month in revenues, then we need to pull out the known expenses and I would add around 20% to the above expenses fo rall the unknowns that happen in a business.....
Any of you huys can fill in the blanks?

You have to sell 800 beers per day to make that kind of money. That's a lot of beer day in day out.

I think the ration of beers to lady frinks has to be around 3 beers to every 1 lady drink. Plus you get the wacky guy about once a night who goes crazy..
I think another way to look at it is if you need 800 beers a day to be consumed, that is 5 beers for 160 patrons.... but because of the lady drinks, you really only need about 100 people to drink 5 beers and then 50 lady drinks to be bought... somewhere around those numbers.....

You have an awfully hot bar if you have 40 offs every night. I doubt more than a few can claim that. But from my experience and word of mouth, it is the drinks that are the main source of cash flow. Keep it flowing. And expect that 3-5 of your girls will leave every month having found a sponsor or bf. Some come back but you need to replenish all the time. Maybe taking test rides is the best part of the business, but it is a bad idea in the long run.
All in all a risky ride but it must be exciting for the right type of guy.

not me, it is more hassle than it is worth.
rent on Soi 19 just off of Sukhumvit (used for TTM) is 100K per month for a 4 floor building, about the size of Midnite Bar.

yes.
it always looks terribly good if you assume the place is full and your girls are beautiful.
but...
the rent for a bar such size would be around baht 50'000.00, dont expect to get more than 50% of your girls barfined in average.
few golden rules:
you should make as much on friday and saturday, as for the rest of the week.
staff salaries not more than 20% of turnover.
managment not more then 10% of turnover.
cost-sales ratio of drinks not to exceed 20%.

ooh. one more thing. most places solely survive on barfines at the moment. some dont even break even. revenues of most places are down more then 50% from 3 years ago.
btw. first seven or eight barfines, you keep, later you dont give more than 100 or 200 baht.
go go bars are a dying species, me thinks.

First of all you won't own a bar, you will rent one. That is because you haven't got a hope in hell of getting the 2 lisences required. So you own a business & you rent the premises. According to Koolbreeze who has run the numbers you will be expected to pay a fixed rent plus a % of your profits. (I guess).
RTB might know more about that.
