I'm coming up to Bangkok for the football between the 20th and 24th but have heard that most places shut down on Thursday and Friday due to a religious holiday.
Anyone know of any bars, MPs etc that will be open on those days?

Yep, both Thursday and Friday part of this extended holiday, though from what my TGF told me, Friday is the big day for tambun. No booze served, but I also have no idea what will be open. Maybe the beer bars will serve Coke? Will NEP be open? Got some unfinished business there, lol!

Based on past experience the clubs/restaurants located in hotels - CM2, Spasso, Club 87, etc - will be open and serving alcohol.
No promises though - the best thing to do is ring them and check.

I put a thread out about this some time ago. The rules are, "as such" you can not sell beer etc for these type of holidays but there is a by law which bars and places like Tesco's Foodland etc use which is you can sell beer while sale. So anything over 12 liters is ok for sale.
I am sure that bars and places like this will be open but not that many though. I have been talking to a few friends of mine that have bars here "BKK" and in Phuket they say for the most closed for 2 days. I am sure that there will be plenty of action late at night on Sukamwit.
Do not forget that other not so well written Thai by law, pay the local high level policeman and stay open.
