I'm really interested in what is going on regarding bar crackdowns, as I don't go out often enough to know what the latest news is, but when I do go out, not knowing when to expect places to close rather interferes with my decisionmaking. However - and this is not directed at anyone in particular - I really would rather not have to scroll through pages and pages of personal stuff.
So, if you could refrain from posting anything on this thread other than your personal experiences of bar closing times, and rumours that you have heard, that would be great. And we can all be very slightly clever and write things that are, oh, I dunno, 'my experience of such and such a board member's brain closing time' or whatever, but it would be great if you refrained from doing that as well.
If you could refrain from criticising anybody else's information, that would be great, too. If you have information that directly counteracts someone else's post, then relating your experience, and allowing the reader to draw their own conclusions, would be wonderful.

Last week seemed to be the same as always.
Lotsa pussy, 1:30 to 2 am closing of the main bars.
Outside bars open as long as there are customers.
I left Patpong at 4am on my last day after smoking cigars in the local cigar bar where guys were setting down ashtrays on the no smoking signs. There was actually a no smoking sign in the urinal to pee on!
Seems the same as always to me.

Friday April 4 - Soi Cowboy closed at 1:00am, nearly precisely, heavily 'encouraged' by the cops walking up and down SC, making sure everyone complies.

Patpong seems to be the safest bet these days. Or the outdoor bars on Sukhumvit or Asoke which don't seem to be hassled at all. (but it is hot here these days so it isn't the best option!)

patpong is in the zone, so is RCA. therefore they can close 2am plus.
sukhumvit area is not, therefore a 1am closing is currently enforced.
anything in the open e.g. along sukhumvit road, is allowed to serve drinks all night
they do not pay taxes nor VAT, they only pay a hefty rent (word of mouth is 1000 baht/day per table, 500 baht per chair) to the coppers.
when will it stop??

Alternatively to being in the said zone, places with a proper license are entitle to stay open until 2AM which is the reason why some of the clubs in the Thonglor Ekamai area are packed.
None of the clubs in Sukhumvit soi 11 has a proper license which explains...

Was at CM2 (Novotel Siamsquare) on Friday. Closed at 2AM but the place was not full and poor choice of girls.
The second dance floor, the small one, is now the smoking room
Yesterday evening Gulliver and NEP. Both quiet for a saturday evening. Closing 1AM. Mama in one my fav NEP place complained about very few customers this week-end.
Closing 1AM
Overall - I know it is a long WE - I found this WE very quiet, strange.
