Hi,
If you have not seen my new thread on the hotels section of this site under TOWN LODGE then please allow me a minute or two to introduce myself.
My name is Kevin Meacher, I originate from England although I have lived in Thailand since 2004. Most of the time since then I have been running a hotel in Pattaya that I both owned and operated. In the last couple of years I have been away from that business, having divorced my wife, and for the previous eight months or so of 2012 have been living in the province of Phichit in the middle of three hundred square miles of rice fields!
I wrote a book called Riff Raffles which was published here in 2007 and freely admit it was terrible. I have learned much since those early first couple of years.
As of today (1st October 2012) I am officially the new General Manager of Town Lodge Hotel located at the end of Sukhumvit Soi 18. Along with that goes responsibility for Toxic Club, the hotels own bar. However, I have been here for the past couple of weeks looking at what I need to change within normal budgetary constraints and what I can do to improve the overall experience of both the bar and hotel.
My first thoughts related to the bar have led me to believe our prices were very wide of the mark. Therefore, from Friday 5th October these will be changed and the bar will also be open from 17:00 rather than 19:00. We will remain open until 02:00.
I will not post the full bar prices but give you the main areas that differ from the previous regime as follows:
Heineken & San Miguel Light - B85 per bottle (reduced to B75 for Happy Hours which are from 17:00 to 19:00).
Singha & Tiger B75 (Happy hours B60)
Leo B65 (Happy Hours B50)
Main spirits - JW Red Label; Bombay Gin; Smirnoff VoBKa; Bacardi all B100 single shot or B180 for a double (Happy hours B80 single/B150 double).
Lady Drinks - add fifty baht to the price of whatever drink she has.
Bar fines reduced by 33.33%
NEW PRICES AND OPENING TIMES FROM FRIDAY 5TH OCTOBER, 2012
We should have True Visions operational by this weekend and will show all major sports including live English Premiership action over the weekends but I can only chase them so much! The pool games are FREE.
We have four ladies working in the bar and if business here picks up over the next few weeks and months that number will be increased.
We will have Special Promotions from time to time with prices reduced for whatever beverage is being promoted.
I am hoping to arrange a PARTY NIGHT for later this month and details will follow shortly if I get the time to arrange it so soon.
From early November we will start to do a basic food menu initially available in the hotel or bar from midday to eight in the evening. Hours and choices of food can be extended once we can guage the level of business.
Toxic is available to book for private pareties and we can arrange any catering requirements you may have. The bar has seating for fifty people and can comfortably accommodate one hundred visitors. Please contact me on kevinmeacher@gmail.com if you wish to discuss a private booking.

Excellent, these prices are a huuuuge improvement, and as a result during my frequent (and long) stays at Town Lodge, I will be much more inclined to have a few at the bar before/after going out. Great work!

Prices are better, but still high for the bad location. With so few girls they will not be the draw to build up a core crowd.
You need long term drinkers there, not the ones that drink a beer, or two, and leave because there budget only allows that. A dead bar is a fast turn off.
A longer happy time(2100) to get them drunk, and staying longer is a better bet. Not many start so early.
I would also suggest letting them buy happy time price drink coupons to use all that night. You want to keep people there, and get repeat business.

I was in this bar twice, the decoration is very very nice, but frankly it was a dead place each time.
IMHO no one want to do the trip to go to a dead bar, so its a vicious circle : the girls wont stay in a bar with no punters, the punters wont go to a bar that has no girls...price of beer and decoration are not important, if its cheap drinks you want you dont need to search in such a remote location to find it

Thanks for your comments guys.
I hope the bar will be a place people come for a drink, chat, chill out, away from the 'maddening' crowd and so forth rather than just visting here for a cold beer and warm woman.
When we start doing food that will make it a little more attractive for those that want a few hours away from the crush. We also have to develop the hotel business and get guests visiting the bar more regularly.
There will be several promotions and events arranged on an ongoing basis and the first of these is detailed below. Please come along, bring a friend or ten and enjoy the night. a reminder or two will be posted as the day gets closer.

The PARTY NIGHT on 9th November has been postponed, unfortunately. There are a numer of issues still being dealt with at the hotel and prioritising these means I have to put back the PARTY for a few weeks. Further information will follow shortly.
Business in the bar is slowly increasing and I now have some firm ideas on the future direction. It is likely not much will change before the New Year but next year you will see a completely different style of bar and hopefully come back and take a look.
