Any of you Expats or frequent visitors know of any good bars to watch the American football games? I'll be here for two weeks in September and would like to catch some of the games if it's at all possible.

That's a tricky one. Main problem is the time difference, during most of the football season BKK is 12 hours different than East Coast time in the USA. Which means a 1 pm kickoff is 1 am in Bangkok. Most bars now are being forced to close at 2 am, so that means at best you could see 1 hour of the game. And that is if any place actually showed the games. IIRC, there is one channel in Thailand that shows 1 or 2 games a week (maybe ESPN International) but they usually show live feeds. You might catch the tail end of the Sunday or Monday night games if you are lucky. Best bet would be to find a bar that has a lot of American expats, but I'm not sure if that place exists (they all seem to be on Soi Cowboy or NEP  ) and see if they'll turn the game on, if there is one showing. Or you can try the local sports or watching Premiership football (English version) at the Londoner.

Hmmm for sports events I think Londoner's for the Premier League, The Office (Soi 33) for Australian Rugby stuff and maybe Woddstok (NEP) for major sport events e.g. F1, American Football, etc....However, as other brothers pointed out, almost all the bars have UBC and may change for the channel of your preference upon a polite request. If you are really into football your best bet may be to log on the internet and find it on internet radio. I have done that a few times. I don't remember if the cable company in Bangkok carries ESPN, but ESPN in some parts of Asia does show a few American football games. When I lived in China, I use to get several Japanese channels which did carry replays of American football. There are quite a few hotels in Bangkok which cater to the Japanese. They may have some Japanese channels which show the replays.
Long story short, you will probably not see any football until the Super Bowl. That they show.

Seems that the best places for American Football is at Washington Square.
I know that Silver Dollar will have the games on .
To see them live is a bit of a bitch .. Monday night football is on very early in the A.M.
Also, not many games on....
If you stay in a hotel with all the cable channels you will get what any bar can get.
If you have an apt then you might want to consider a dish and be able to watch early morning in your apt ..

Just stick to REAL football mate (or soccer if you insist) you can find that everywhere, with live games in your hotel TV on Saturday nights (we don't even get those in the UK)!!

Speaking of real football are nighttime UK League games and Champions League games shown live? Due to the ungodly BKK time are they repeated next morning at a more sensible time?
If so the only problem would be some "helpful" individual informing everyone of the result while they were in blissful ignorance of the result.
