In another thread there was some mention of how this used to be... someone asked for a specific example but the requestee didn't want to hijack the thread. For me the good ol' days weren't so long ago, but I'd love to hear from some of the oldtimers what it used to be like.
My good ol' days were in 2000/2001. Before the crackdown I would go to my favorite bar and be able to stay until I felt like leaving. Sometimes they would close the front down but we could stay and drink until 3 or 4. Often we'd head over to one of the discos on Nana and stay out until about 6 am or so.

I as well would like to hear about the good old days. In my case these are the days from before '94. One very loyal contributor to this forum has promised me some stories over old cold beer, looking forward to this one.
I remember them not even closing the front down, they would remain open until the last punter left or in many cases until the punters stopt contributing to the bars main purpose. This being selling liquid and solid merchandise. Basically everything has been tightening up, still available but defenitely less on the open.

I am sure there is different "Good Old Days" for those who live permanently in BKK and us who do not. However, for me it was 1994 and before, when there were few Katoys/ladyboys in Patong and no restrictions at Hotel Montien. Today I have gincen up Patpong as it is too tedious having to checkk all the time what you are getting.

... around 90-92 we used to sit on the corner of Sukhumvit soi 13 [ that hasn't changed, ms Moi still selling grog there ] and around 1-2pm the taxis would pull up en masse, and girls would bundle out to head into Thermae, then only 50 yards from the cnr of soi 13, we used to pick out a few likely ones, then head off to the "Red Label" - which was a Thai nightclub on the corner of Petchburi and Soi Thonglor - closing time around 4am, when it was usually back to Thermae, which was in full swing, and closed at daylight !

But, in the Good Ol' Daze it was a bad idea to be at Thermae at dawn, the last ditch girls then refuse to take no for an answer.
I was living at Peter Court, Soi 22 behind the New Cowboy...my wife was waiting for me, I told these two silly bitches from Thermae I had no $$ but they climbed into the tuk tuk anyway.
My wife ended up talking to them for about 45 min while I crashed, eventually they left.
However, there were consequences. I was behind in the rent, and one of Peter's minions spotted me going upstairs with two honeys neither of them my wife. He ratted me out to Peter, who decided that if I could afford two girls I could afford to pay the rent...so he checked my wife and I out on our ear(s) -- all because I stayed too long at Thermae...

I stayed at the Boston Inn in 1980 which is near the Malaysia hotel for 80 baht a night which was about 4 bucks in those days.I pick up a girl from the Flying Fox i think it was called where the infamous Charles Sobraj picked up a few of his victims and i think i gave the girl 200 baht LT.I also picked up a girl at the Grace Hotel for a similar amount.I was 21 and i had never seen so many women as there were in the Grace 500 women and 10 guys!!!
Yeah Bangkok was very cheap in those days.

We has some great parties in Boston Inn back in the day. Renting floors and the girls going room to room. We even had a "Coup Party" there at poolside. Bangkok was under martial law so we had our fun there rather than go out.
