It was 4AM and I was approaching the footbidge on Soi 12, Sukumvhit Road. I had been up all night and was feeling prettty good. A ladyboy jumped in my path and was being quite friendly. I was in an alcoholic induced "good mood". I chatted with the ladyboy but had no interests in any of the ladyboy's service. I told the ladyboy that I was not interested but he kept bugging me. I told him I was waiting for a friend and I saw a cute BG and said hello to her and told him she was my friend. I tried to walk past him and he blocked my way, so I went up the footpath. He dashed up the footpath to catch up with me and then he got violent. I asked him if he wanted a fight as I was losing patience. He demanded that I give him money for chatting and I refused. He grabbed my shirt and tore it and took out what money I had in my shirt pocket. This pissed me off because it was my favorite shirt. It was only a few hundred baht, ha ha. I told him I would go to the Police and he left (don't quite remember that part?) Anyway I went down to the street and saw a BG I knew and told her what happenned. She begged me to go to the Police, she said that the LB were robbing fralangs everynight and that she did not like them. We walked together and I saw the other BG that I said was my friend. I told the one BG that this BG saw the incident. They talked and it turned out the the LB had hit her in the face, I never saw that. Anyway we all waited for the Police to arrive and when he did arrive he asked us to go the the Police Station. We went and they took a statement and asked for both the BG ID Cards. They never asked me for any ID. They were all quite polite. The police asked me why I did not hit the LB? I stated that I did not think it wise to hit a Thai and that it would have just escalated the incident.
We then left and the girls told me that they would arrest the LB the next day. The one girl knew who this LB was and that he was always robbing fralangs.
Well, I hope I did the right thing. The LB know the girls did this as they approacxhed us right at the time the police came and then fled. I hope these BG will be safe?? It was their choice, they insisted that this would help everyone?
I could have prevented this by not walking down the street at 4AM...I donm't know. I am thankful that I had my money, passport etc, in a pouch inside my pants. In the future I wont arry money in my shirt pocket.

Hey, I'm sure most of us are glad you made it out without losing anything more than a few hundred baht and a shirt. No more talking to ladyboys at 4 AM in the morning for you, especially not in around there.
I've often heard stories of this happening from my Thai girl as well and she won't go near the foot bridges at night. I never thought much about it and thought she was just being paranoid. Maybe she isn't so paranoid after all.
I would hope that if the girls asked you to do it they will be fine. I am sure they know when not to step in sh1t in their own backyard.
Be careful out there...

You did the right thing about reporting it, but dont be to paranoid, I have walked around the street at 2, 3 and 4 am and never had a problem.
But, you should have hit back, I would love the opportunity to kick a girl in the balls.

I saw a National Geograhic special on a Thai professional kick boxer who is a LB - how humiliating would that be ketting kicked upside the head and dropped by a LB.
Best advice I have read and used from the BTF is to avoid eye contact / converstaion and move on - especially if u r walking alone.
Good to hear u walked away w minimum damage.

There is a big ugly one on the South side of the footbridge at Soi 20 and several smaller ugly ones on the North side. They have the smell of prison about them.
There are also several who hang around on the North side of the bridge at Soi 12 who are a bit rough. I am not even sure they are real LBs but pickpockets masquerading as LBs, sick stuff.
I only notice them because they keep on grabbing me as I walk past, usually on the way to and from the pub.
I have nothing against LBs, they can be interesting people, but this lot are hanging out at the bridges because you cannot skitter out the way so easily. This gives plenty of opportunity to grab your balls, massage your wallet etc.
The police do very little about them because the complainants are normally foreigners. This is not a racial thing but simply that the complainants do not stick around for the trial, they are often gone in a few days.
I have been scratched before by LBs who will not take a polite "sod off" for an answer. With reflection perhaps a reference to sodomy was seen as a come on.

what can a say thai vs foreigner you will lose money at least
now ladyboys are boys/men and the majority of thai men kick box
so someone who is merry ( worse for wear ) vs a thai man in a dress who could well be high on drugs and no doubt there pack mates around is in for a serious beating
you did the right thing by walking away from the situation it could get very ugly very fast
put it down to experiance and dont let a few idiots spoil your view of thailand

Just a few problems here. (Not taking the piss SIAB)
First of all most young Thai men only THINK they can kick box. Just like Chinese youths think they can karate. A few weeks in training and you would be the alpha male of kick boxing in your soi.
Secondly a Thai man in a tight skirt and heels is not a kick boxing legend. He is still a bloke in a dress who would totter after you. But be careful, those stillettos can be dangerous if he takes it off and hits you with it.
"She" was already ugly when you got there.
The last point is spot on of course. This sh_t is rare in Thailand.
