honestly i picked up women at lumpini park on many occassions and definitely not all are garbage as what have been impressed earlier. girls at lumpini park came from all walks of life just like gogo's bars. etc. and i've never had a single bad experience with these ladies. many are also stunners and some are hiding discreetely in the dark - others in the open. its a mixture of young and old (about 17-35) and everybody insists on a condom - no condom no f_ck. I also came across with some having legitimate jobs in the morning. I used to pick them up with a car but sometimes choose to walk to have a better view. Girls faces are always changing so you may see someone new every week. They charge Baht 500/- per pop and will take you to short time hotels nearby. one short time hotels off sathorn road have many policemen watching tv - giving the impression that the hotel is protected or owned by a bigger fish. anyway those police guys doesn't care and do not even second glance at couples coming in and out of the hotel. ladies starts to appear at 7:00pm till 7:00am. there are police raids on some nights where they haul the girls into the police station and letting go after paying a fine. police usually comes between 11:00pm-1:00am so if you don't notice any lady then probably its raid time - they are hiding at small sub sois around and re-appear when everything is safe. you can walk around the perimiter of lumpini park as they are all over but more prominent at rama 4. negotiation is fast - only eye contact is needed and she may come or you approach her. if they like you they will approach you but if not they will just go away - therefore they are not the desperate ones.

Yeah there are many Freelancers at Lumpini Park. They are, mostly that I've seen, quite skanky though. You'd most likely need a vehicle as thaiprivateeye stated. One of the taxi I took told me he had one for about 400 baht (ST)

Lumpini is definitely a place where you will find several types of girls, young, old, ladyboys, even guys and some are really cute, others terribly ugly, living in the dirty klongtoey area.
If you look at the cars coming around, you will notice some Mercedes or Volvo, so these girls are not only for the poorest bangkok guys.
Price is 500 bahts for ST.
What is sure is that you won't find your girlfriend there.

I don't have very recent news, but I was looking around and in the park 12 months ago and walked for about 2 hours and did not even see a dog. (Well I did did see lots of people of course, but defenitly no freelancers).
It was around the closing hours, so it could be raid time as mentioned above, but there were no policemen either. (More then normal, that is.)
I went later to a real massageparlor and took a "virgin" out. She fell in love with me (No, I was not fooled) and I kept her for the rest of my 3 day stay in BKK. So I never went back to the park, not that I was planning on waisting more of my time and feet. 
Was I just unlucky that night? Atleast I was lucky in love! 
And I have a question about "the deafmute girls who work Wongwien 22 roundabout in Thonburi" as mentioned by Chateaujade. First of all where is that? Is it around the statue?? But what stands the "22" for then? Or is it soi 22? But there is no soi 22 there! And secondly I heard some nice things said about the deafmute girls here on the board. So what is wrong with them?....... Yeah yeah, I know they are not very talkative.
