My CB friends told me they don't like much Grace Hotel but at least they could take a drink early in the morning and hang around the place to see the crowd and maybe talk to the farangs aiming some sanook and, of course, to let them pay for the drinks.
"....At SIAM HOTEL too many KHUN THAIs looking for quick sex and we don't like that....", they said.

Besides the excellent insight of TPE seems to be that most of the clientele of SIAM HOTEL Coffee Shop is composed by Thai guys. They don't spend much time there. They go with their own cars and a friend as usual, lurk around and BANG! either they take them somewhere or pay the B/.300 ST at Siam Hotel.
Prices for locals B/.1.300 ST at Grace. However, it is B/.1.500 for banging somewhere else. Farangs are welcome. Prices then depend on the girl.

I like Grace Coffeeshop a lot, it is freelancers heaven. BUT... since bro Pinga guided me and Skip to Siam Hotel Coffeeshop, I have become a big fan of this place.

I think the Grace is one of those places you either love or you loathe. Haven't met many people who were indifferent.
I think TPE's dead right about the Grace's function as last chance saloon, and imho this gives the place a slight air of desperation. Mai sanuk. Personally, I find the atmosphere there downright depressing.

Just tell the cab you go to Petchburi Rd. Siam Hotel. This hotel is close to the junction of Asoke Rd and Petchburi Rd. Just as a landmark you can refer to MONALISA MP which is just next door.

PINGA: Quite a few farangs. There is no problem for a farang to hang around and settle down a nice deal with a local cutie. Just beware of few katoeys lurking around....

PINGA: Grace has almost the same size of Grace Coffee Shop. The surroundings of the swimming pool (a swamp actually) in the back side of Siam Coffee Shop gathers also quite a few chicks all the time. The chicks are going there to smoke since they have a fine if found smoking indoors. The crowd? IMHO Grace has more girls hanging around but the best selection can be found at Siam Hotel IMHO.

PINGA: Never been till they close but late enough to see that the best time is around 02:00-03:00. The best chicks are picked up mainly by locals during this time. Few come back for a second round.
