I live right on Ratchada VERY close to ratchada soi 4 and all the other Thai nightclub venues. Let me put out a warning here...**DO NOT GO AROUND PLAYING THE FARANG PICK UP GAME THERE GO TO RCA INSTEAD** It could be hazardous to your health. There are quite a few thai junior mcMotorsai gangster types who make that soi their home. If you're informed about the area you'd know that soi 4 has had lots of fights, stabbings, and even a couple shootings in the last 4-5 years. It's not the ghetto by any stretch but things have a much higher chance of turning bad there than any other entertainment district that i've seen. A lot of my thai friends avoid that place like the plague.

Where exactly is soi 4 in Ratchda - taking either the Robinson department store, or the Huay Kwang subway as reference points? Will avoid the place in future.
Have been staying at Ratchda hotels for very many years & have had no problems - SO FAR !
Have wandered around the Ratchda night spots at all hours & have never felt the least bit threatened / uncomfortable -SO FAR (again).
Ratchada soi 4 is close to a small footbridge up the street from the Phra Rama 9 MRT stop. You can't miss it they have a big lit neon sign at night. Ratchada itself is very safe. Soi 4 is a different story since all sorts of sketchy young thais hang out there although it may not be apparent unless you live around there for awhile. Soi 4 is basically way below RCA, Thonglo, and all the other popular venues in regards to the class of individual that frequents it.

Ratchada Soi 4 is where the kids go and it's cheap. Given that combination, it's easy for trouble to start. I've been there several times and never had a problem but the people I went with told me all kinds of stories. It's interesting to see how these kids have fun but you have to keep in mind that youth and maturity don't go hand in hand. You see the craziest things happen out on the street there after the clubs close. I once saw some cops beat the crap out of some kids that were fighting with each other. The cops kept kicking them while they were on the ground until they basically stopped moving.
RCA is definitely a better pickup spot. Thonglor area is a better area for local Thai action.

hhhmmm... don't wanna stir the shit with some mates here but the guy who said Bo kung pao is loaded with FLs is pretty much on the spot. Used to go there quite often and lots of the female customers are coming after their MP, Gogo, or karaoke shift. It happened that most if not all the "regular" girls I met there were dodgy for the least. A nice place still, ho's are hardly ever too many in this challenging world...

Went there last month.
We are two and approaced a group of five girls.
suggested them to go to ppu-kkung-ppao and had a few seafood dishes with thai whisky.
Costed us 2.5k and ended up with no lady for that night.
When I got back to my hotel one of lady SMSed me asking where are you? I replied I am in my hotel room. you want to come over to me? She said something in thai which I did not understand so I called her.
Unfortunately, the girl could not speak enough Eng. so I hung up my phone after saying good night.
That night, I was ok because during the day I went to Tulips so I was not really into finding my girl for the night.
In Hollywood, a few girls draged me to join them when I was going to the loo. My friend who went there with me told me he met a few freebies so I now figure out that in Hollywood there are many freebies and FLs.
My impression was it is not difficult to find your girl in Hollywood. The only concern is your girl is a FL or freebie.
P.S : dancers and singers are soso. not bad to spend a night.
