But the original poster was referring to farangs who can't adapt when in LOS, or can't adapt to their girls' lifestlye habits when they bring their TGs back home with them. This happens for a whole variety of reasons.
The danger of this kind of topic is that it opens up to divergent points like Thais who don't travel well, Muslims dietary requirements etc. Heck, I was going to talk about vegetarians, but checked myself just in time.
So back to the topic.
Eating at MacD's or KFC is not a farang phenomenon, but a global one. I believe a lot of Thai people don't just go for Thai food when overseas, but also the fast food outlets (and coffee chains like Starf*cks - sorry, Starbucks) as alternatives.
We can also explore the fact that people with a less culturally-diverse background or environment are less exposed to internatonal cuisine. It doesn't really matter if you're someone who'd moved from Issan to England, or a corn-fed middle American displaced to Manila, or a meat-and-potatoes person from the Aussie outback moving to join a spouse working in Cairo -- they would face similar problems adjusting to the local food.
There's also other things like the climate, behaviour, attitudes, religion, business practices, general way of life, etc. I myself have been 'guilty' of not 'adapting'. But we seemed to have focused on the food a bit too much.
Oh, and keeping your TGF/wife happy!! Both in LOS and in farangland or whatever. That means doing the kind of things with her that she would normally do at home. And I don't mean just the sweet hot lovin' either 
Some of you may flame me for saying this, but it is instructive to pick out the relevant stuff from LY's posts. You'll see what I mean.
So are some farangs not able/don't want to adapt? Yes there are. And of course so do many Thais, but that is not the focus of this thread.
Just my 2 satangs.

Yes, this is why I shared my story, although it was rather long (the story, well yeah the other thing too).
Just wanted to show that IsaanKing's story is an easy enough situation to get into.
Like it was said by Abrak, he misses LOS TGs, and she just misses LOS, and having a beau that genuinely enjoys sharing LOS style food/fun, and she gets to give him the GFE like those TGs love doing... 2 much !!
unfortunately, it might turn into a Fatal Attraction.

Some people just have trouble to adapt to anything new.
I always thought feebleminded was an adjective until I never met the chap who was sent to HK to work for me and lasted a few hours. Now I know there is a race called the f_cking feeblminded c_nts (pardon my French).
Life is a series of challenges and for some meeting challenges expands their horizons and capabilities. A challenge of a different place, a different culture etc. we can take in our stride and we are capable of change. This site is full of this type.

Regardless of how you feel about these, there's still a wide variety of them. It's enough to be interesting and yes, there are some nationalities that I avoid more than others, but occasionally one can score some gems.
Especially if you're not a westerner yourself. It can be quite a different experience for a non-farang guy.
Reason I brought this up is because a non-farang aquaintance of mine scored a sweet 20-yr-old farang chick around these parts recently. According to him, she was nice, reeeeal nice...he isn't a BTF member but if/when he becomes one, I'll encourage him to post about his experience

Well I must admit, and PLEASE DON'T SHOOT ME!!, recently I have been thinking of trying to bag a Russian the next time in LOS. ONLY because it's been a long time since I rock n rolled one. If I come across a good looking one and the price is right, I may go for it.
Besides Russians don't exactly come in a high abundance where I am.
But given a choice I'd still pick pick an Oriental gal over a Euro/Western one anytime. If tromping about the town I come across a sweet TG before a Russkie then I won't exactly shed a tear.
