Some clippings from today's Pattaya Mail.
The new entertainment laws were made official on September 1, but the initial stage of enforcement has just begun. Preecha Kamolbutr, Chonburi deputy governor, acting on orders from Governor Pisit Ketphasook, handed down the policies to provincial, Banglamung and Pattaya government department heads on Tuesday morning, October 26.
Over 100 people, including community and business leaders attended the meeting at city hall on Tuesday.
The new regulations imposed by the Interior Ministry requires all entertainment venues inside Pattaya's entertainment zone to close no later than 1 a.m. All venues outside the zone must close no later than midnight, although some types of venues outside the zone need to close earlier, such as massage parlors.
Chawalit Saengutai, Senior Banglamung District Clerk and acting district chief said, "... The law came into effect on September 1, and we shall enforce it accordingly."

So, in other words, the protests and compromises were, as usual, for naught. That's unfortunate, as a BG friend of mine was thinking of going back to work in Pattaya this month.
Really, all this means is two-fold:
- bros will need to make their selections earlier.
- the girls will need to start favoring STs, so they can get several in one night.
End result as to the gov't achieving what they set out to do: Zero (as usual).

Thanx for the info Chilli. Hopefully I won't run into a streak of bad luck next week when I'm in Bangers. It's seems that they are clamping down in Pattaya right now.

Actually put this in the negative column. From the letters I've read from Thai newspapers, it seems LOS will lose an amount of tourism because of this move.

Mai pen rai - I guess in that case, objective achieved - but what's the objective.
- Less tourism because less entertainment friendly.
- More hookers in the streets because of early closing.
- More joining the part-time hooking because of early closing of malls (*)
So, I guess the goal is to hurt the economy, put more people into dire straits, and to provide no other options in return? Brilliant!
(*) When I read about that brilliant piece of decisionmaking, I just had to laugh - truly, left-hand not talking to right-hand, illustrated.

I don't know that Thailand will lose a lot of business as a result of the earlier closing times.
Arrived Bangkok yesterday morning and all the hotels in Suk that I tried were booked out.
Went out last night and found that the bars were not that busy...so there are plenty of non sanukers to fill the gap.
Went to soi Cowboy and have to say what is the point of going to a gogo when they have their clothes on....boring and not worth the extra drink price.
Am in Pattaya for the next few days and will see how things have gone down here....also many hotels booked out here too...

In the Bangkokpost today they say that they can sell no alcohol from 06.00 saturday untill 24.00 sunday.
Now I spoke with my friend she has a shop in Patpong she says from today saturday untill tomorrow 18.00 sunday any body knows?
