I reckon in all seriousness it should go like this.
MrJoe is the author......his attention to detail regarding grammar etc are second to none IMNSHO.....
Arcadius and any other bugger who can contribute on a regular basis are roving reporters (I don't include myself as I really don't head out as often as I should these days). The reason I say on a regular basis is that if you just get occassional impressions...you end up with the forum...which we already have.......
I think MrJoe should get his thinking cap on and come up with a theme or idea a little different to Tink / Stick / Baronbonk and let us know what he wants us to be on the lookout for this weekend!
We also have to sort out a budget for MrJoe......can bkktonite afford him?

For something different, how about BG/TG interviews, to get a different perspective? And not with one who is a "service provider", but as a (semi-)disinterested third party. The journalist would need to speak fluent Thai and be persistent enough to get the truth beneath the concocted stories.

- how come almost every farang Ive met who has spent some time in LOS wants to write ? [ usually a book ] - just wondering ? Mind you having said that, the majority of Books/Novels written by farangs who have spent a little time in the kingdom, are so far from reality, they should be called comics ! I'm told at least once a week I should write a book - stuff that, I'll settle for the real thing for now ! - keep the "fiction" for when I am no longer capable - IMHO There is enough info on the forums for anyone to collate, and write plenty of decent reports/books, someone writing a regular one here, is probably just inviting criticism from all the ex-pats -

I agree 100% with seubeu.
Seems to me that this forum gives us everything we need to know from the farang side of things. We get field reports, personal experiences with TGs and BGs, coverage of every conceivable angle of the scene. We get this from a wealth of different viewpoints. And the rate this forum is growing, we're going to get a hell of a lot more of it. Good. Taken in the round, it's superb stuff.
What we don't get is any input from the TG/BG herself - at least not direct from the horse's mouth. Just about everything we do get about her take on things has been filtered through a farang mindset.
Imho, this is the one great lack. I'm not sure that a 'columnist' dealing with the farang side of things would add much value to what we've already got here. But a guy (or guys) who could interview TGs/BGs about their lives, their hopes & fears and - above all - Ýtheir attitudes to all the various issues we raise here, would be immensely valuable. And imho immensely interesting.
The guy(s) would need to be fluent in Thai. Someone the girls could trust and feel comfortable with. Preferably, someone who knows how it all works (at least as a consumer) but is now 'retired' from the scene and not a potential client. Someone who has a good nose for BG bullshit. Someone with no particular axe to grind, who would just pose the questions and accurately report the answers.
Any suitable candidates? Ý Ý

I still think that brings us back to MrJoe......he is the obvious candidate......long time resident......retired from bar scene......former manager.......I suspect excellent thai...and Isaan to boot? (I cannot speak one word of Isaan)...maybe it should not be a regular column....pressure on time forces pages to be filled with the last column of shit that Trink always writes. Just a series of articles/interviews......

Yes, demented Falklands resident though he is, I'm sure Mr Joe is far better qualified than most to do this sort of thing. If he wanted to and has the time, inclination & wherewithal.
But, yes - why the need for a 'regular column'? It's not as if this forum gets 'published' at any particular point in time. For that matter, why just one columnist? There's quite a few guys out there who's Thai is certainly up to the job.
