Harold, come on Dude. You've never visited the Grand Palace, Vivanmanek Mansion (sp?), Floating Market, Ridden an Elephant in the hills of Chiang Mai, taken a raft down the Mekong, or a thousand other things to do in Thailand (not all in BKK) ?
Have you ever tried to not buy pussy and try to meet girls who might give you sex than having to buy it (not that there's anything wrong with that either...been there / done and still doing that). How about the original Thai Food (not same in US) ? How about just meeting people from all over the world here in tropical SE Asia? How about nice beaches (not in BKK) ? Man, the list goes on but I'm thinking/suspecting that you "just don't get it", "yanking my chain", or "just don't care".

Harold, ok we agree to disagree. Too bad that you think most Americans think Thailand is for sex only (although I don't completely agree)....I do understand that ever since Time did that story many years ago, it's really highlighted the sex industry and the naughty image of the country.
Having said that, I guess there are many around the world who think of Gangsta' Rappers shooting each other, Illegal Immigrants protesting against trying to enforce Immigration Law (WTF???, "Only in America"), Street Crime (including hookers), Nasty, Bad attitude, fat assed, complaining American Women, etc. when they think of the US......we've all got our shit to deal with.
In actuality, Thailand ain't perfect but it's a great place to live in and a beautiful place to visit....and yes, the women are hot and if you can't get it the non-commercial way then yes, it's relatively cheap when you're coming over here with a war chest filled with money that would have otherwise been wasted in American Topless Bars.

I'll be honest in saying that's the first thing I have ever heard about Thailand when I was getting ready for my first trip, as that is all my trip buddies kept telling me - and then I found out what a cool country it was, aside from the sex, and how cool the girls were, aside being very available.
Saw the elephant thingy (sanctuary, whatever) in Pattaya, the giant golden buddha on the mountain, the buddhist museum, little Siam, and that Jomtien is much calmer than Pattaya.
Then in Bangkok, we went to see Wat Po, Grand Palace, MBK (orgasmic), Patpong (where I found the nighht market more interesting).
Then I found out, partially through this forum, partially from girls, about other places that I need to see on my next trip. So, the next trip included some days in Bangkok, and some days in Udonthani, and some days in Khonkaen, and the countryside. Now THAT was very cool, and gave me more of a much better understanding of Thailand outside of the big cities, and the people that live there
Then I knew that there's a big weekend market to visit in Chatuchak, taking boat rides on the Chao Phaya, discovering dental work and Bumrumgrad work, discovering the quality and inexpensive nature of local tailors, etc...
It just goes on and on, and all the time I discover new places I want to go next time - sometimes they are tourist spots (last trip in February, it was the floating markets), sometimes they are simply out of the way places that I want to see 'because' (still want to see Pitsanulok, Chaing Mai, Chiang Rai, Kho Samet, Bang Saray, etc...)
Sure, the girls are a big draw, as they are undoubtedly for 99% of the posters on this board (I mean, DUH!), but if you are there just for the sex, and sleep through your days, only to get drunk at night, and screw some girls, then you are truly a loser. There's a whole, big world that has a lot to offer - if you just sleep through it, it will just pass you by.
