If you want an arrogant greeting on arrival try the Immigration Counters at Heathrow sometime. Even the Brits complain about the poor attitudes of the immigration staff.
As for getting smiley faces from the lady processing your passport, consider the fact that I am behind you in that immigration line along with 20 other folks and we do not appreciate your attempts to chat the immigration staff up. We do appreciate that the immigration staff process us in the most efficient and effective manner possible so we can get about our business.
You can wait until you get to your hotel for the smiley faces, you will find plenty there...

Not quite sure what you are smoking - interestingly enough, I asked for you to provide an example to substantiate your claim, but you seem to have glossed that part over.
Yes, this is about things you won't miss in Thailand -- which implies specific things about Thailand you won't be missing. Then again, maybe you don't get out much, or English is not your primary language...

When I do chat up the immigration lady, not yet having been admitted into the country, I do not consider it inappropriate nor inconsiderate. There are male immigration officers that others can drool over and usually there isn't just one line.
If I also spend the time asking her if she has anything to declare or body searching her, then, that is my choice (or hers).
However, if I do happen to turn around and notice that there are 500 passengers waiting for me, I would endeavour to 'finish' quickly.
But since I would not be legally in the country at the moment of 'Chatting up', in my opinion, this would not be entirely fitting for this thread.
What gets me is when you see some guy come racing through customs and sweeping out through other passengers in their hurry and urgency, fonldling their golf sticks or hugging their brief-case, past the touts for hotels and taxis and all the waiting greeters, without the politeness nor consideration not to barge or say excuse me.
And they are by that time in the country, so I would not miss that.

I miss the pricks who haven't completed the immigration form properly & hold veryone up, until (hopefully) they are told to leave the line to complete properly.
Don't they know that at 10:45pm I have "so much to do, so little time"

Well, as a matter of fact, I was complaining of multiple very bad experiences with Immigration and Customs people. In US and Canada, I'd say probably 75% of those were with... female officers!!! The meanest and worst when they end up finding nothing!
Now, whenever heading the North American route (as little as possible), I do everything I can to avoid the booths manned-be-women!
