Don't know what you're talking about... Something tells me that you WAIT for them to smile. Try to start this encounter with a big smile on YOUR face - works at least with 50 % of the female officials... (you may think of something naughty, it only adds cause it makes your smile real and vivid  )

I am not expecting any body to chat up with me when I am on immigration line. They can be polite and handle each individual case efficiently and with quick dispatch. Though I did not have any delays while at immigration, I do have a story to tell on the way the Visa on arrival section works.
I had booked my room in Majestic Grande in one of my trips and asked them to send a vehicle to Airport to pick me up at 7 am, 5.30 AM being the time of arrival of my flight keeping sufficient margins for the queues at Visa on arrival and immigration.
There was as usual a very large queue in the visa counter, only 2 out of 3 counters manned. Out of these, one counter was being operated as both collection and issue counter.
A group of Russian Tourists with a tour leader came and barged into the queue and their visas were being processed out of turn, Visa counter staff naturally being induced by some bhats changing hands.
One of the people rightfully waiting in the queue objected to their visas being processed out of turn resulting in further delays for people who are waiting from earlier.
The visa counter people then stopped issuing the visa for all the people of the nationality to whom the person who objected belongs and started issuing visas only after 2 hrs for the people of that nationality much after several started pleading with them to not to delay the process. The person who objected was made to sit and wait till all the other visas were issued. Me being unfortunate to be of same nationality as the person who objected to, by the time I came out of airport after obtaining visa, the time was 10 AM, the vehicle that has come to pick me up returned to the hotel and I had to incur additional cost for transportation to the hotel.
All this happened because of Visa on Arrivals guy was interested in few Bhats.
You wanted a specific example and now you got it.
I am a Chartered Accountant and a Dubai Expat. I have visited LOS several times and several other countries including USA, UK etc few times. I don't profess to be an English professor but I have been told that my English is above par. My IQ is far above the average. What are you Daffy and what is your qualification?? Don't ever jump into conclusions about others and their capabilities. I don't care to comment on my smoking habits.
I don't know why I am explaining all this, but what I find in this forum is some amount of insecurity with our Bros who start jumping on non issues, unnecessarily get provoked for no reason and start jumping up and down like our proverbial ancestors.
When this forum will become civilized??? Good members of this forum are slowly dwindling and will become non-existent by the way some members of this forum behave.
BK my dear friend is a very tolerant guy and has immense patience. But please don't take it for granted.
Read Forum rules for posting. I am replicating them below once more.

yup, it is definitely a tough job... 
BTW, I was once flirted by an immigration officer, and it was quite funny how she singled me out from the line. She just open her counter, some guy seeing the opportunity tried to get to her counter, she chased him back to his queue, and then she beckoned to me to go over to her counter. When she looked at my passport, she said, aha, going for visa run, right? I said, I'll be back.

Flamed? That is hardly the case. Hell a match generates more flame than we have on this thread. There were no names called, no threats, no ire. The fact is in this case you were probably the most hostile poster.
As for being a frequent traveler to LOS, I have been coming to LOS since 1983. I am an American Expat with several business interests in Thailand. Why do I tell you this? Because you are nothing special in this group, we all visit LOS frequently.

Well a threat to have someone banned certainly seems to be a hostile action to me. Telling some one to keep themselves quiet, that is quite hostile too.
Furthermore what the Duck said about you is not flaming but an example of what he thinks to be clever repartee.
And your statements of respecting everyone else?
Riiiight, so to prove that you need to brag about your social status? You have to say that the Thais that do not make smiley faces at you are arrogant?

Well let me tell you how you appear to me (and possibly other readers of this Forum) :
You seem to have a very low opinion of yourself with a constant need for acceptance and recognition from others. This is indicated by your reassurance to us that:

It is further reinforced by your original post on the Thai Immigration officials:
"They think they are the direct decendents of the King"
One who is secure in himself does not have to make such statements.
But I will leave further psychological analysis to the Duck as he tells me he is far better qualified to discuss this than I am.
However let me end with a comment on respect as I am qualified to comment on that.
In 16 years serving as a US Special Forces Officer and commanding troops in combat there is one thing that has always held true for me:
Respect is not demanded, it is not commanded, it is earned
and you msg4558 have not yet given me any reason to respect you...
