Guyz, Meeting my G/F from Chiang Rai in BKK - she dosn't know BKK at all - and I only know all the places I shouldn't - can you recommend a few G/F friendly venues...I recall reading in the Post about a german beer hall with singers etc..

I can't imagine you have never heard of MBK with its restaurants, shops and cinema's. And if it is bars/disco's you are interested in, then RCA is a good place to start. Find the map on the homepage of this forum.
The Excite disco is also a good place, but way, way out of the centre. Not a place you easily find as a falang.
Ofcourse the Hardrockcafe is always a good place to go to, where ever you are.
But my best advice is KISS. Keep It Simple Stupid! You keep it simple and play stupid. Don't forget you are a stranger in a strange land. Act like it! From one of those places you let your girl do the hunting for places. She can speak with the crowd in there, and find out what is hot and what is not. And if you end up in a place you know, you can play dumm and blame her 
And if you let her choose the places, she is happy. And a happy girl can make you happy later in your room. Because if you take her to places YOU like, she might get a headache, and you don't want that? Do you?
And you can also ask the BG's what they like to do in their spare time. That way you maybe find some places that cater to your GF's tastes and not only to your western ones.
Just reverse the "Up to you!" and be amazed at the results. If you are in a serious relationship than it has to be a two-way street. So let her drive sometimes.

Blettsucker's suggestion of KISS is very good advice. BTW, there's also a bowling alley in MBK and its new and modern.
The Brew Pavillion is a good place to take a TG to for dinner and show. It's a micro brewery with dinner (Thai) and show. When I was there, it had Thai singers singing and a lot of people were singing along (in Thai of course). The place is huge. According to the BKKtonight's map, it looks like you can get there via the new subway.

Yeah I forgot about trusty ol' Hard Rock - used to be by backup plan in Jakarta too, until one prospectful G/F brought along 7 or 8 mates and OD'd on Cokes and send my Credit card into overdrive...
I don't think that brew hall was what I was thinking of - it had a German sounding name,...Beer Hall or something like that...
Thx anyway...Was trying to avoid MBK as my eyes seem to wander too much in that place

Let me try to understand your last remark. 
You want to go someplace where you don't have to worry about your wondering eyes.
I will make a giant leap in logic here, but I guess thai women make your eyes wonder. I'm extrapelating that from the fact you have a GIRLfriend.
You're in thailand and (this is a secret to most people) it is said that 50% of the population consists of thai women. They are everywhere. And you don't want to see them. Then there is only one place to go. The airport. Book a ticket to the North or South Pole.
On second thought make that the South Pole. Eskimogirls look a bit like thaigirls. And how about penguins??? Are they save from your wondering eye????

If you are a cheapcharlie the last one is a good one. Saves you a lot of money on cinematickets.
