come to bangkok for 12 days twice a year- love the MONTIEN in potpong- maybe the best breakfast and dinner buffets in town- but only stay 2 nights as it is very hard to get girls into your room---- move to SHANGRI_LA for two nights- would stay there forever- girl friendly but so expensive id go broke longer (they have some rooms in old section with a huge window in the bathtub so you are bathing on the river) ---- to pattaya for 4 nights again the MONTIEN or MARRIOTT, then back to bangkok for LANDMARK (if you pay a liitle more- the exec floor has free breakfast, drinks, and so many appetizers its enough for dinner) also love the gym at landmark and this is so close to nana, thermi, and easy walk to soi cowboy- to say nothing of eden club almost across the street-- next trip march 25th cant wait- want to meet for a drink? ps to my post- for those of you who think $75-$125 is a lot of bucks- I live in new york city- for that kind of green im sure there is a warm space in the subway- not in 4 or 5 star hotels even on priceline

You can get Shangri-La in March for approx 65 USD through Priceline. Stay there as long as you like at that rate

How? I have been trying for months now, but I got Jw for 6 day last week but still wanna stay at shangri-la when I come again in march, in my opinion shangri is 10 times better than JW M. but you cant beat JW location, I if you are in to Nana

Would you prefer Shangri-La over the Marriott Resort? I'm planning on staying at the Shangri-la in early March, but I can get a better rate at the Marriott...
Also, is the Shangri-la too far away from all of the action?

I'm staying at the Landmark right now. I have junior suite courtesy of my company and it is one of the best, if not the best, hotel deal I've experienced in 30 years of globetrotting for business and pleasure (i.e. mongering). Huge two-room suite with full bath and a separate second toilet off the sitting room. Big-screen TV in each room, high-speed internet access, fanatastic bed. Package included free airport pickup in limo (I was dubious, but it functioned perfectly), breakfast and evening snack buffet that can serve as supper. Great pool and exercise room. Perhaps most importatntly, GF to the max. Just make sure to book a double room. Lots of guys had TGs with them at breakfast this morning and they were all treated very respectfully. I realize $170 / night is probably out of the range of forum readers, but it should be possible to swing if you're traveling on business

The Shangri-La is on the river, quite far from the action, but only a few minutes walk to the BTS. BTS closes about midnight, maybe 80 baht taxi ride from Nana, but during rush hour definitely take BTS (costs about 40 baht, as I recall). Shangri-La is much closer to Patpong than Nana.
Get the Krungthep wing if you can, since the room, and bathroom in particular, is far better then in the older Shangri-La wing. Great outdoor pool, nice lobby in both wings, but drinks are quite pricey.
Salathip restaurant, right alongside the river, features very tasty, but not inexpensive, thai cuisine with traditional thai dancers.
Try the Horizon River cruise, either the full-day trip to Ayutthaya, or just the 2 hour dinner cruise.

answer to cbrook007- the marriott is in the other side of the river- which is a pain in the ass- its a nice hotel- has one of the last TRADER VICS- but shangri-la is last stop on the sky train and a very short walk from there-
answer to kev29ie- you must know someone at priceline- every single story about that web site says they add one star to every property- and you were very lucky- dont hold your breath again
