I will be in Bangkok from the end of November for a few months. While I look for an apartment, I need to stay in a cheap hotel that is gf for a week or two near the action. I've been to Honey Hotel which is around 900 baht per night and was okay. I know there are many reviews on places here and have looked through the site.

The rooms are just fine. Has a pool too. It is NOT at Sukhumvit but is a 10-15 minute subway ride away. This place is right around the corner from Poseidon. Huai Kwang midnight market is around the corner. Fun.
A low floor can even pick up their Wireless Internet.
Something near Sukhumvit for this price would be a dump.

24 Inn right at the Prom Phong BTS is 800THB but the shower had no hot water. Room is clean though.
Would stay again in a pinch.
Also is a ST hotel for 3-500THB for 2 hrs.

There is a new Hotel / Hostel just inside Soi 25, 2-300m from Soi Cowboy.
Can't tell you anything else about it, other than it looks nice from the outside.

Once before I stayed in a hotel - close to Sukhumvit called "M in Bangkok". Very small block. No room service. Actually I think it may have been privately owned and run by some older lady. From memory - 700 baht a night.

I would not believe any pics u see - and when I stayed there no sat tv. However, it was cheap, clean and reasonably comfortable.

Gentlemen, I dare say, I like the PB Hotel more and more 
Been there lately many (short) times and found it not only good value for money for a ST hotel (350 for 3 hrs. for the basic but clean, spacious and well furnished hotel rooms, have seen worse than this, e.g. NEP ST hotels... ) And it's a surprisingly huge hotel...
For just 700 B. per night this is also a good choice for the budget traveller. Surely not the place to impress your new GTGF, bit like saying: "Honey, I'm staying in the Nana Hotel, you come to see me in the lobby?"
And even the cheapcharlies can do sophisticated mongering with staying in a standard PB Hotel room but having ST session in their really funny fully mirrored (about 270°, plus ceiling  ) boom boom ST rooms on the groundfloor (270 B. 3 hrs.).
Only drawback: location is fine basically but it can be a pain to get there... It is on a subsoi of Soi 3 something like 100 m. from Soi 3. But Soi 3 is a one way and from Sukhumvit you can only get there by taxi going all the way down Suk. into to Soi 11, passing Bed Club, turn left, passing Q bar corner, turn left again... That can be quite a ride around 2am (still preferred ST time of the day as well as the big spit out of Bed and Q, loads of taxis queueing and blocking the road so that nobody gets what he wants...)

Problem with PB hotel is to make a reservation. As often as I tried per telephone I got the answer that they're already booked out.

PB hotel is good and never had any problem to check in.
During the day, the rooms would be all booked but at night you can easily settle in.
After 2AM, you get 20% discount so the room rate for one night is I think 540B.
One bad thing is last time I saw few insects and cockcroaches in the bathroom.
Location is also good. easy walk to soi 11 and main sukhumvit rd.

I arrive in BKK in the early morning hours and don't want to try to explain to the taxi driver how to get to my apartment in the dark. I've never flown into the new airport before, so I need some help... can someone recommend a hotel for a night that the driver can find from the airport? I don't want or need something expensive; just a place to land that the driver can find easily. Ideas? Thanks...
