Most of them are good and reliable. I always use http://www.gothailandtours.com. E-mail Mrs Sai there and she will look after you. Also you can send in your credit card details by fax if you prefer (generally looks for a 30% deposit for first bookings).

Gminn03, one thing you can try is to contact the hotel directly, tell them the rate you can get through an agency, and ask them if they can match it.
It worked for me with last time, when I stayed at the Majestic Suites.

I booked my upcoming stay with precision reservations. They are very helpful through their site which was nice if you have any questions and I appreciate that I could pay the hotel in full before leaving. One less bill to come back to.

I booked a room with precision reservations 1 week ago and I'm still waiting for the confirmation, is it a normal delay ?
They announced an answer in the 48-72 hours max, but I sent them emails and they just tell me "sorry but you have to wait more, we'll come back to u soon".
I start to worry because they make me lose my time, more I wait for their answer (I gave my credit card info already so no choice) and more I take the risk to miss other rooms if the one I booked with them is not available... (leaving for bangkok in 1 week now)
subsidiary question : is it dangerous to send credit card info via email to an hotel who asked it to guarantee a direct reservation ?

PW, that delay is very unusual. Perhaps the hotel could be fully booked.
Never send your credit card information via email, as it is in plain text. If you need to send it to them, fax it over to them.
Artisan, if you are going to use sawasdee.com, why not use www.res24.com as they are one of the partners for this site and it's same company.

I wasn't very impressed with the service of http://www.precisionreservations.com in the last weeks:
- the price stated is not the complete price. You have to add 7% Tax and 10% Service Charges which makes price comparison with other pages difficult
- when I asked them during my stay to reserve two more days there where a little bit slow and I needed to phone them to process my request in time. I asked for the reservation on Friday and called on Saturday afternoon, but they hadn't confirmed the reservation at that time and even asked me to call back next day, the day I was supposed to check out. Which of course was a little bit late in case they couldn't secure the booking.
What I did not like about precisionreservations.com as well that I always received computer generated email with out a personal name on it. IMHO it is much easier if you deal with one person all the time which makes it much easier to communicate in case of additional requests, since you don't have to explain everything from the scratch each time you contact them. The same applies to http://www.res24.com.
Two years ago I used http://www.siam-online.net. Their staff was much more friendly and helpful and for them is was no problem to confirm a reservation within a few hours.
Two more comments:
- not every page does offer every hotel. Last week I wanted to stay at Manhattan Hotel again after my return from Cambo but it was full, therefore I decided for Swiss Park Hotel, but only http://www.res24.com had it on it's list.
Therefore I booked it through http://www.res24.com www.sawasdee.com (it's the componay, obviously). I found their page a little bit diffcult to operate and acidentally sent a reservertion three times.
A general note: Even the prices are cheaper online, in case you want/need to change your travel plans you can loose a lot of money. For example, if you check out a few days earlier there will be NO refund from most online agents, eg. Therefore I read their policy before I book.
