I was thinking about staying at Royal Asia... Everything seems good about the place, but I'm not sure about the location. Does anyone know how far the walk is from the hotel to the main road?

Stayed at The Royal Asia Lodge many times. Free 24 hour tuk tuk to and from Suk. (10 minute walk) The lodge now has electronic keyless doors and in room safes big enough for a laptop. Wifi is available next door in thier larger more expensive service aprtments.

The location is superb.If you are lazy then the free tuk tuk is an option.I have stayed many times and rarely used that convienience.The walk from Suk is about 10 minutes and only the first 100 yards is a bit of a hassle.After that the street is mainly residential and quite pleasnt for Bangkok.The Hotel itself is pretty good value and quiet and very GF.One of the hidden gems in BK in my opinion.

This place is HOPELESS !!! forget it and save yourself a lot of hassle and aggravation... the "decent" (paradise) rooms are in a seperate building down the road -- an old apartment building.. the room I was given was not even furnished -- hard to get them to give me another -- then that one was at best RATTY !!
Wireless is a "feature" - had to ask for password, etc.. but when I fired up the old laptop I found I didn't need it.. was there two (LONG!!) days and only on the 2 night discovered I wasn't using the hotel's WiFi service but piggybacking on some other dudes unsecure link -- which was faster than the hotel's !!!
For almost 2,000 baht per night (after VAT) and no breakfast there are MUCH better deals about...
I will be visitng RTB next time at the Lodge... he set me right a long time ago with the Swiss Grottino and wish him well for his new venture (even if the bar prices look steep)

Ignore me Singhop. It appears that the original poster may be looking for responses on both hotels.The Royal Asia Lodge is not bad value for money.I can't comment on the Paradise which you feel is bad value.

I think there is an issue of identity between the 2 "properties" -- they are the same excpet one is supposedly "upgraded"... If the Royal Asia Lodge rooms were anything LESS than the Royal Paradise room I had... YIKES !!! Even for 1100-1200 Baht per night there are just too many better options out there to have to put up with this CRAP!

Is there an actual Tuk Tuk stand at the corner of the soi and Sukhimvit rd. with Tuk Tuks waiting to take you back to hotel or do you have to call them?

Anyone who has stayed in both the Royal Asia Lodge and the Dynasty Inn, How do the two compare to each other? I've stayed in the Dynasty Inn before. I'm going to be in BKK next week for four days and both are comparable in price. Which would you recomend and why?
