Firstly, so others understand...these bugs are not the kind Issaan people eat.

They are very small...and feed on human blood.

Unfortuntely Thai staff over do the treatment using chemicals in lethal doses....( residue remains on sheets)

Several deaths have occurred in the hotels of Chiang Mai and southern resorts where trace elements in Autospies reveal chemical agents.

This appeared in the Bangkok post today.

( the next link below)

It's possible these sisters recieved a massive amount of chemical exposure due to over zealous staff....

Time will tell.

But avoid places cheap Charlie back packers or scruffy people stay, as they are more likely to use chemicals to treat Sheets

The odds in hotels in down town Bangkok are very low as they laundry sheets daily.

To counter DG's off topic post, no their haven't been any reports of bedbugs in the Sukhumvit area, only in the KaoSan road area in the cheap side soi hostels.

I am sure if bed bugs can result in your death....albeit by stupid Thai staff, and chemical use it's hardly an off topic post.

People need to know what's going on.

This from a reader in Today's Bangkok Post

Reading through everything that has been reported so far, and not just in the Bangkok Post, the matter is very disturbing. Instead of waiting for a full forensic report, claims are already circulating that they died from food poisoning while nobody knows for certain at this stage what happened. This really is alarming. One thing seems clear, it already smells like a cover-up in motion, with statements from the police along the lines of ''they had eaten meals outside the hotel''. Could this be to absolve the hotel of any responsibility?

Two people dying very quickly with symptoms seemingly pointing to a very strong reaction to some chemicals could be attributed to multiple sources, including but not limited to rat poison, insecticide and other pesticides, poisoning of their food either accidentally or on purpose by some dangerous person, and so on.

So, please, do not let a cover-up happen like in so many other seemingly similar cases (remember Chiang Mai?). Get to the truth so such a tragedy never happens again.
