As the new GM, are there going to be changes in room rates, drink prices, bar fines, ect.? Most here will want a run down of room rates, and if the same email booking will be used, also discounts for board members.

Thank you for your comments which are extremely valid. I have spent the past week or so looking at the systems so they can be put into operation by Monday (1st October) which is my official commencement date.
Bar Fines and Drink Prices will be REDUCED - some prices of drinks cut significantly. What they will be, well you will have to give me another week but I will most certainly post them here. I intend to run a HAPPY TIME from around five in the evening until eight- sorry but I am too old to call three or so hours a HAPPY HOUR!!
Room Rates are, in my opinion, about the right level although are a bit haphazard presently. There WILL, however, be discounts on standard rates for board members. Again give me a week to work through such matters.
We will start doing some food but keep it simple in the first few months. If things work out we can then develop the menu.
I am hoping to have time to organise a party night for late October so do hope you will all keep your eyes open for the announcement of this and come along if you are here.
I am very appreciative of your comments, thank you.

Well 'atl' you surprise me with that one. I have found the mattresses to be extremely comfortable and the guests I have spoken with concur. Possibly you stayed in a room with an old mattress - do you by any chance recall the room number(s) and I will specifically check them.
I apprecite the comment though and will now go and check all the beds - well not exactly now but I guess you know what I mean.

I have stayed at TL about 25 or 30 nights in my life......last time, I checked in and told RTB I had to check out because I am a 40 year old guy with a bad back and I switched to Citadines soi 23......

I have stayed several times at TL, although not in the last 3 years. With that in mind, here are my thoughts as to the major problems with TL:
1) Location. Saying it is a 6-10 minute walk down Soi 18 from Sukhumvit is true, but in 38C or rainy weather it seems like a lot longer. The Tuk-Tuk that was supposed to be there to ferry people was, at least during my stays, almost never available. And, my Thai wife basically refused to walk that distance. (I would add that taxi drivers didn't believe there was anything down at the end of Soi 18, and I really had to talk them out of taking that last LH turn since they were SURE I was nuts.)
2) No elevator. For some this doesn't matter. For those with mobility problems, heavy luggage, or Thai girls in tow this can be a show stopper. Staying on the 4th floor was necessary (see #3) for me, but going up and down those stairs multiple times each day with a Thai wife just didn't cut it.
3) The noise from Toxic. That's the reason I stayed at the top. On the 2nd floor it sounded and felt like I was in the bar - and Toxic often didn't close until 4-5am.
Now, things might have changed in the 3 years since I last stayed. And, I don't know what you can do about these 3 things. Moving the TL closer to Suk isn't going to happen. Elevator? Where do you put it? Maybe better insulation or the like would help with the noise from Toxic.
Anyway, my 2 cents. Best of luck in your new job.
