I passed through the JW Marriott earlier this week for a bite at their Pastry Shop. The metal detectors insdie the hotel lobby are gone and the side entrance at Soi 2 is open again. There are no security checks any longer at any of the hotel access points.
They still do the vehicle checks though at drive way to the hotel and at the car park entrance, something which many hotels continue to do these days.

They are currently offering Majestic Grande at 2700 baht, you will not get that rate if you walk in to the hotel, I know as I tried only last week.

I got JW from 12th dec, for S$155 for 4 nights, about 54 pound. But this is the peak season period, and the bidding are for 4 days....
If u bid for less than 4 days, most likely you will get cheaper rate.

I was just looking at http://www.asiarooms.com, and it looks like they may have a rate mistake loaded for the Marriott. It is showing $83 for a tripple Dec 1 - Dec 7, and $93 for a tripple from April 2007 onward. Maybe someone will want to try it and see if they honor it. I would try it, but not planning on being there during those dates.

Stayed at the JW marriot for 8 days last month (Nov 06). The service is good, rooms are clean, staff very friendly, breakfast is exellent but the aircondition not good. I Recommend to go for Executive rooms than the standard one as you will get complimentary business lounge access (6pm to 8.30pm) for free drinks and snacks. The hotel is very GF

They were back this morning. All guests have to pass through the dectector.
After 11 nights in the Sheraton Grande, I found the JW to be a bit of a disappointment. Got spoiled by the SGS service. Little things like the quality and quantity of the towels, and the fact that they are changed twice a day. And a complimentary bottle of water on each bed stand every night. JW seems to charge even for water.

Sai Tai - checked out of the JW this morning after a week. Have been staying there regularly for 7 years and have never been disappointed. Have never paid for water (and complimentary bottles are provided each day) and towels are changed when rooms are serviced each day and at turn down if they have been used. I find it to be excellent but each to their own.

Not for me. I should have called down this morning and asked for clean towels... but TG convinced me that it was no problem.
