i also give high marks to Majestic Suites. front desk crew very friendly, 24 hour security, totally guest friendly and location can not be beaten.
only a couple things bugged me. i couldn't figure out that electronic lighting system. kept going out on me. also went down to breakfast with my guest and i got a little attitude from the cafe staff. almost forgot, one night about 3am heard someone puking in the hallway. other than that place was cool. will book again.

I've never stayed at Majestic so can't say. Nana has not had a decent room the last two visits, but I'll still have breakfast there. The Ambassador is nice, for about 28 US per day in the Tower wing, have to register double occupancy, no problem with guest. If you like city lights view, get like the 26th floor, way up, no city noise, just a beautiful view.

It's just a long walk from anywhere, Soi 7, Thermae, Nana Disco etc. JMHO, (hey ok, I know it's only 4 or five blocks, but I sweat like a f_cking pig ok?), The pool is very nice, as well as the steam room and traditional massage. In September the Cafe was closed for remodeling when I arrived for a lunch buffet, and that was a dissapointment, though it may be finished now. Great Breakfast and lunch buffet at a very reasonable price. Two memorable incidents, one with the aviary and the asshole parrot that taunted me until I stuck my finger in the cage, only to be bit! The other was inadvertantly kicking over my Jumbo Carlsburg, in the process of flipping Penthouse Pet of the Year over, resulting in the shorting out of the electrics in the whole room, with sparks flying from the bedside console in mid-f_ck. The staff were very pleasant about the whole affair, though I checked out shortly thereafter.

Last trip Planet Holiday again screwed up my reservation for Nana,(twice in a row), so I fell back on the Dynasty, my plan B of choice. The dynasty has smallish rooms, for 1000baht. Quiet clean and a new wing and building. No walk of shame either, like the Ambassador, as you can slip down the alley and around the corner without having to pass through the lobby and deskclerks' watchful eyes.

Considering quality, location. and price, I think Majestic Suites is an excellent choice if you can get by with the minimal sit-down breakfast. Booked 9 nights there for next month.

Guest friendly? When I checked in last August, I realized I'd banged one of the trainees working behind the desk, when she worked in a beer bar around the corner.

Hi all
I was in BKK in July and am thinking of visiting again very soon. Earlier I had stayed at the Abmassador in Sukuhmvit. At that time I had paid about 1400 Bhats for a Room in the Tower Wing. Now I belive that they have increased their prices to $37 per nite which comes to about 1550 Bhats. On this forum I have heard great comments on Majestic Suites which is also in the same range of 1500 to 1600 Bhats.
Now as I have already stayed in the Ambassador and they although do not have a guest friendly policy but if we register for a double room with dual occupancy there is no problem. I even liked the rooms they were of a reasonable size.
What I really want from a hotel is that the room should be good, they should have a good guest facility and in room service.
Now the question is that considering all the above what would you guys advise *do I stay at the ambassador or make my resevation the the Majestic Suite?

rajbir,

At the end of the day I suppose your choice would boil down to how much you are willing to pay for the hotel room.

Even though I have never stayed at the Ambassador, from the reports it seems to be pretty good. As mentione I just stayed at Majestic in the Single Superior which was 1250 baht per night....room was not very big but everthing else was excellent....and bringing girls back is not a problem even though the room is a Single....

Hope this helps....

majestic is an old time favourite of mine. I stayed there for 18 months (on and off) when they first opened.

however, prices went up, breakfast went down. and it's always full. I used still stay there, when in between apartments or having just a drunken bang.

however, whatch out for the new place they are constructing now, on soi 2 next to annies. Majestic Grande. should be ready in 6 minths or so.

that is gonna be real nice. with theme rooms. I saw the plans and the interior designs. will be in the 1600 baht range.

otherwise I can also recommend nana city on soi 4.

7-800 baht. clean rooms. big. cable. the food downstairs in the private restaurant is quite good. try the schnitzel.

hi Guys,

I am just after clarification on booking a double room at Ambassador, the planetholiday site is asking for guest names, it says we cannot process your booking without all guest names. what happens if I leave this Blank, and then try and bring a girl back with me?

thanx in advance.

Hi
I was actually thinking about the same problem.
I think that providing two names in case of a double booking is necessary. I just thought a way out.
We can provide them with two names at the time of booking and at while checkin at the hotel we can say that the second individual is still at the airport getting cleared at the customs or alternatively would be joining in a couple of days time. Maybe this can fool them off.

Also there is another site for hotel bookings (www.bangkok.com) which is cheaper by about 100 bhats than http://www.PlanetHoliday.com and this site also does not ask you about the guest names etc.
Maybe they would ask at the time of checkin at the hotel, and we can tell them the same old story.

Any opinion on his by the experienced bro's.
Thanx

WTF is this 'Nana new wing'? The only thing new at the Nana is the new pool...

And TWD? Ambassador too far from anything? Jeeeeeezusss! Soi 11 is the BEST location in Sukhumvit! Of course with inflatable size 28s, I could see a SLIGHT problem, but come on, man!

I guess the Nana is TWD's best choice: disco, lobby, and on a really energetic evening, a walk across the street to NEP...

Guys, the KEY to getting a good room at ANY of these hotels is to ASK. And take care of the staff. A tin of cookies for Khun Miriam at the Nana, a decent tip to the bell staff, and a polite request to get the room on the floor/wing you prefer.

And get a little exercise BEFORE you go to Thailand - you will have a LOT more fun, if you can actually WALK the distance from Nana to Cowboy...

haam sup
