Thanks. Will keep the Novotel Lotus in mind the next time. Also another hotel I have in mind in the Majestic Suites. I was informed by the manager Bob that they are guest friendly. As I posted elsewhere, the rooms are small but then the rates are very reasonable.

So we don't really know but as you said the location makes it very attractive. Any experiences by any more brothers would help crystaliise the issue.

I was just thinking that we are getting mixed reports on guest friendly hotels..
Amari Atrium.. was reported as friendly but ABC now says not
Ambassador.. was friendly but now with question marks.
Raumchitt.. was friendly but now charging joiner fee.
That is why separately I asked for report on Manhattan. This is still reported as friendly.
Just trying to update the picture for us all.

I think the these hotels will probably be different depending on the person and situation.
I had a very bad experience at the Amari and will not stay there again. Part had to do with one of the managers charging me another 1,000 baht for a quest just to come up to the room. We are not even talking about spending the night. The next day, when I inquired about this charge, the front desk people said that I should not have had to pay it. Secondly, the management at this hotel is very unproffesional. They treated me without respect, as well as not respecting my female friend. Who by the ways was not a working female. My opinion is that they judge on looks. I look young, dress young. But, I am not, and infact it should not matter if I am or not.
So, for me, the Amari was NOT guest friendly and I would disuade anyone that I know from staying there, so they don't have to go through what I went through.
I guess it's the old adage, Buyer beware!! ha ha ha!!

Hi ABC
You have something there. Appearace can make a difference. I'm 48, tall, white hair and I am usually wearing collar and tie. I rarely get challenged. But when I am wearing clothes of my choice, scruffy jeans and tee shirt attitudes are quite different.
I was amused by a recent post. One brother was suggesting that you are not challenged at a particular hotel if you try to look like a couple. Imagine me with a little TG trying to merge. Some chance... hahaha

Unfortunately, yes. Looks seem to matter. I have never run into this problem before at any other hotel I've been in. Whether I am on a business trip or personal vacation, I dress the same. Okay, going to meeting is different!! ha ha ha!!
I am 6 feet tall, asian, athletic physique and sometimes wear Nike b-ball shorts andt-shirts or jeans and over-size shirt. I guess they did not respect that look. I am not talking about the grunge look either, but more a Polo, banana Republic look. Anyways, they probably figured that I was young and that they did not have to extend any professional courtesies to me. But what really shocked me was that it came from the managers and not the regulart help. Talk about the bad apples at the top of the tree.
Oh... keep trying to merge!! ha ha ha!!

I only wear the meeting gear when I an going to a meeting. I remember we all have a lot of them hahaha.
But as we know Thai's have a colour issue. My ex TG was quite pale and so were her friends. I was amazed at how they all looked down on the dark skinned Thai's. From what we hear, Thai guys won't have anything to do with the darker girls either. So leave them for us. Goodeeeeee.

Yes, even with a guest friendly hotel, you may come across an employee who makes subjective judgements and hassles you. Hell, he may have been ditched by his gf or shat upon by his wife that morning and was taking it out on you!
I can understand a manager hassling you if you are dressed badly but a polo / banana republic look cannot be an issue. And specially for a hotel management to think they don't have to be respectful because of a customer's age is indeed terrible.
And Dave, yes it would be hilarious for a farang / TG to try and look natural 
But whatever the reason, ABC, your experience at the Amari was apalling. I am sure most of us who have read this post will never stay there. The hotel's loss.

Guys,
There has been a lot of bad reports on Amari. A lady friend of mine mentioned that her client had some hassles with them as well. He had to pay an additional 1,000B. In addition to that, she had to exit by the side entrance.
There was also another report where a farang with his Thai wife stayed at Amari, and the staff thought that his wife was a prostitute and treated her as such. Can you imagine that??? I suppose those guys assume too much!

I can not believe that the Amari is an international hotel chain. I guess they don't believe in customer service. I have never heard of ANY other hotel treating guests so poorly and so unprofessional. To make assumptions that any female that stays at the hotel is a prostitue is ignorant!! Does the hotel staff understand that we pay their salaries with our business. And to make anyone exit through a side entrance is absurb!!
Like I said before, this hotel SUCKS!!
Of course, this is just my opinion!! ha ha ha!!
