After having spent the last 10 days at Amari I can declare this hotel to be totally girl friendly.
Once security knew who I was (2 days) the only response was "good evening sir".
For the first 2 days my room number was checked (for double occupancy) and the girls ID taken, after that nothing. I did question security about not holding ID's and was told that if I approached them with a girl they would assume I wished for this to happen, no approach - no problem.
Two electronic keys were provided.
The hotel has good facilities and is a little overpriced but what a good location.
The pool lights are dimmed at night - perfect for skinny dipping.
7 out of 10 for hotel, 10 out of 10 for GF status.
Tuck.

I stayed there for the first time ever just the other day. I've been to Bangkok many times. This is the first time I've ever had a problem bringing a girl to my room in ANY hotel in Bangkok. Amari stopped me at the elevator with the girl and made me pay 800 baht to bring her to my room. I won't be staying at the Amari again. This is Bangkok for christ sakes!

LFL -- Did you book a double? If not, then the Amari is charging you a joiner fee, which may not be the norm but is not unusual for mid-to-high-end hotels. For example, the Novotel on Soi 33 also charges an 800B joiner fee.

I did not book a double. But I've never needed to book a double at any other hotel I've ever stayed at in Bangkok. I was actually booked at a different hotel originally but there was a screw up by my travel agent so they moved me to Amari. I didnt know I was staying there until I arrived in Bangkok.
If they are going to charge a "joiner" fee, they should tell me that when I check in. Having a "guard" at the elevators who checks to see if you have booked a double room is ridiculous.
I now know they require booking a double. But I will not stay there again regardless because I think they are being ridiculous. It's not worth the hassle.

In the D'MA pavillion, pratunam if you check in with your girl you get a pink key ring lol so the man at the lift knows you've got a girl.
