guys, guys,
you're getting it all wrong. What dude needs is a place where he can mix with other indians, a 5* hotel isn't appropriate 'cus there is no "indian feel". It doesn't matter if it is indian owned.
Being a sikh brother, I can understand what you are looking for. My first time in BKK, I was really overwhelmed, I quickly found my retreat at a quaint dive called khurana guest house, in prathunam. It isn't the best, but the staff and the guests made me feel less apprehensive, and more relaxed with BKK in general.
The place is pretty much run down now, but I still make my way there to say my hellos and drink tea with my old mates.
oh yeah....about 350bhat a night.
