Hi TPE, is HBTP further down soi 22 than Admiral Suites? Seems to be in the sub-soi Sainamthip. If the distance is negligible, I'd pick HBTP since it is cheaper and looks equally good. Also, I love the name!

I stay at centrepoint. A studio will run you about 35K - 40K baht per month. A one bedroom 55K-65K. In theory, serviced apartments are not supposed to publish daily/weekly rates as they are not supposed to compete with hotels but they do anyways. Its quite nice, unlimited electricity, high speed in room internet, and daily maid and linen service.

I've been told by Centrepoint and a few other upper market serviced apartments that they do not accept stays under 1 month unless its a return customer, someone from a corporate account or a guest of an existing customer, ie when my parents come visit, i can rent a room for 1,200 baht per week for them (correction, 1,200 baht per night).

But you can call or email them and ask. The website is www.centrepoint.com

Centrepoints published rates on their websites can be undercut by most on line agents but 1200 a night is a kicking deal -

Any chance of getting that type of rate for the Bros Monk?

Seriously - I would love to stay there at that rate.

I always stay at president Park SA and the guys are right there is little difference in quality with the 3/4 star hotels. Ive just got back from a 3 day trip and I stayed for the first time in the Landmark so stay close to the action coz the trip was so short.

landmarkm was fine but PP much better at about 1/3 the price.

PP, GP and RP do good weekly rack rates, indeed they advertise by the week. Booking direct with them seems to get as good a deal as you acn find in the discount shops as well which is not the case with several of the better hotels.

Booking includes bed linen (changed daily) but they charge extra for bottled water, laundry etc although I believ there may be an "all in" rate for longer term stayers.

Much of PP itself is long term booked but they always keep a few suites and studios for shorter terms.

Although PP is excellent there are two things to watch out for.

If they put you in an apart where the windows face another brick wall, ask to be moved - they will!

DON'T pay the credit card surcharge - Ive found that polite mention of the fact that this is illegal usually works the trick.

Always stay at the Chateau De Bangkok in Soi Ruen Rudi, 2000 per night and very close to all the spots.  Also with serviced Appts you rent the room so never any probs with guests

I should have clarified, they have per day pricing for like, 35 day stays, but they claim not to take guests for periods of under 30 days. The price list i got stated as such.

I'm sure there rigidity to it depends on their occupancy

This is not the case. There is no problem with having a stay of just a few days.

I think it is enough to say that they would not quote a daily price as well as the monthly price, if daily stays were not available.

Well, i'm just telling you guys what they told me, i've been living at centrepoint for the last year. Best to just call/email them to confirm.

As for quoting rates, Mayfair does not quote monthly rates at all, only daily rates. Its all daily rates because a 30 month day is charged less than a 31 month day, but they also do not accept stays under 1 month.

From the bangkok post

"One other significant development was the passing of the Hotel Act in the second half of 2002. The new law requires serviced apartments to market only monthly or longer-term rental rates. Advertising or printing of daily rates is no longer allowed. The act stipulates that only hotel operators may operate or advertise daily rates."

Because of the pressure from the local Hotels, the article that Monk quoted from the BKK post Hotel Act 2002 went into effect. In other words, to stifle competition.

So I think both Monk & Valentinoxx are correct..

The company line is we do not allow staying for less than 30 days

But its hard to turn down some badt
