The family that owns the hotel doesn't really take as good care of the facility as they used to. Mostly because they built and now operate the nearby Radisson and consider that hotel their cash cow.

Hmm Classic Place was actually the first hotel I ever stayed at in Bangkok.
Two years ago when I stayed there I took a girl from Nana unaware that she was 17. Asked the receptionists (man and lady) whether there were any problems. They said no problem, but charged a joiner fee of 500B.

I looking for some upto date info on Classic place Hotel, last thread I found was Jan 2004 and it didn't mention anything about hotel being GF, also can someone please give me a rating on hotel compared to Ambassador,

OK, it's in a poor location next to a factory on Petchburi. Taxis cannot turn right from the other side of the road and must inconveniently and awkwardly do a U-turn further on up. From experience, having stayed there, a lot of drivers have never heard of the hotel.
Not GF unless you book-in your companion when you check-in (or when you find her) and don't change her for another.
Qantas Airlines used it for a short while in their vacation packages but soon dropped it. The pics on the web look better than Classic Place actually is although it is not a dive or anything awful.
However, there's so much better to be had in BKK.
