You're right Alan, the rack rates are higher at Sheraton Grande, I'm there later this month on a $60 bid. Had twice gotten JW for $55, even during high season, but not this time. My last time at JW, they installed a metal detector, and were checking bags. Also, cars approaching the entrance had to open their trunks first.
TC73, be aware that breakfast is not included in priceline bookings, but you can get squid for breakfast at Soi 5 foodland.

BTW, a $45 bid for Novotel Lotus isn't too good, adding tax and subtracting breakfast. You could have gotten the same price with breakfast booking elsewhere, without paying in advance and losing cancel out abilities. In fact, you probably could have walked-in at that time of year and gotten a better deal. And, I've heard they could be adding a joiner fee by then.

what is novotel lotus like ?..i just got a superior room without breakfast for 1495 baht per night using their website..for 5 nights this week coming...seems a good deal..is it ?.are the rooms good?..still girl friendly?...any other hotel / local stuff I should know ?..thanks

Novotel was GF back in January security took their ID and called me in the morning before letting them leave. Had an afternoon matinee with a crutch rubber from the Hairy Pie Club, she got in and out no problem and so did I.
Stayed there for 3 nights free on AmEx points but would not choose to stay there in the future, it's just not my kind of hotel felt too production line for me.

soapy...is novotel in good position for everything ?
is cash point (cirrus ) nearby?.i have not booked breakfast there....on website they quote under 300 b.....yet on e mail they request 600 b....is breakfast good there?..did you just turn up or book breakfast ?.any girl bars /massage near to recommend ?.thanks
