I didn't mean to put Nana down. I enjoyed my stay there. I will stay there again. I do get the GTG comment. I told my GTG I was staying at the Nana and she made a face. That and the quality of Majestic made me move!  I did pay 50 percent more for a room of the same size at the Majestic!

Agree the Nana is ideal for newbies, especially those who want to fit as many STs into their schedule as possible, - however, if you are entertaining a semi, or allegedly "Good" Thai girl, - bringing them back to the Nana will very clearly establish to them just what your in LOS for ! I have 2 close pals, both regular visitors, one loves the place, stays a month at a time [ you get a 15% discount ] the other guy dosent like all the "desperates" [ I think he means farangs as well as TGs] who hang around the lobby, - so stays at Ambassador, again, good monthly discount.

Initially I avoided Nana Hotel after reading a few reviews on it, and I ended up staying at Asia Hotel. After a few days, I switched to Nana, and I have no regret since then. For those who have the time to watch TV, Nana even has two movie channels, and Asia has none.

guys,
what are your thoughts on the raja with regards to pricing, room size and cleanliness as compared to nana hotel.
will be there in feb. and want to be close to the action and get the best bang for my buck. dont want to spend more than 1000bt on hotel...last trip i stayed at the novotel lotus. the 1st night there brought two girls back with no problem from Lucky Luciano...2nd night that wanted me to pay additional charge for hotel guest.
if anyone has any other suggetions other than nana or raja pls. let me know for 1000bt pricepoint. i will also look into majestic and the manhattan as well. this will be my first time going to NEP.

As a recent newbie I stayed at the Nana Hotel for the location and pretty much expected the worse but I was somewhat surprised at how clean the rooms were. Sure, the hotel in general is in need of a makeover, and the hallways can have a musty smell, but my room was clean and big and had a great view. I looked at the rooms in Dynasty and although nicer they are about 1/3 the size of the nana rooms.
I think nana gets a bad rap, mainly because of the sleaziness factor; one could actually not leave the nana hotel and do all of his mongering deeds. But the staff was very friendly(except the tour staff) and they even returned 1000 baht of mine that I'd inadvertently left at the cashier's desk. And the buffet breakfast is actually pretty damn good.

I am a die hard Nana Hotel fan. Not one negative point, in my view. It's the Best Value for Money, any which way you look at it -- room size, cleanliness, restaurant, free and good quality breakfast, view, location, girl friendliness, staff attitude, lobby atmosphere, taxi availability, tour desk (although just those 2 ladies seem a bit grumpy), and the draw-back factor (it draws me back always). Bangkok would lose some of its magic for me if I didn't stay at the Nana.

yes i enjoy the nana
but usually get so drunk i have never made it to the breakfast
rooms ok staff pretty good dont have a problem with the place
once arrived and and they had not cleaned the room someone had done a runner there was loads of paperbacks lying around i choose about 4 gave the staff a 100 bhat and everbody was happy
and as any good real estate agent would say it has
location,location,location
33 days before i am back in soi 4 and counting !!!

I once had to extend my stay by a day and forgot to inform the hotel in advance. On checkout day they informed me my stay was over. I requested them to extend my booking but they said they were fully booked and very sorry. I could understand because it was the weekend. I had no choice but to scout around the location. Most of the others were also fully booked. But I got to see their rooms, the Dynasty, the Nana Inn (if i remember right), the Majestic, the Condo. Their rooms were good but smaller, but being used to the Nana I found it a bit hard to settle for less. Finally I got one and settled on it, but surprise, surprise... when I got back to the Nana to chek out, the lady called me and said, "sir, have u already made another arrangement?...I just spoke to the manager and we can give u another day." I won't forget that, Nana Hotel.
