Any news about the construction work near soi 15?
I will be around in BKK in April. Last time I stayed in soi 11/1 and I had to take a room towards soi 11 direction. On the opposite side there was an unbearable noise. The scene in Blues Brothers with the hotel room near the metro was nothing against what I have witnessed in BKK. Are they finished now with their building?

I also think about trying a hotel in soi 8. It seems to be a quiet street. But I noticed last year a lot of works there, too. Does anyone has some information?

You already know about the hotel going up behind the Monhattan. I would guess that its 25-30 stories high right now.

There is a new hotel/building/something going starting right at Soi 15/Sukhumvit, so it is almost right in front of the Manhattan. In January, when I was there, they were clearing the grounds and hauling massive amounts of stuff. Soi 15 was regularly blocked with hugh trucks trying to get in and out..

No idea about Soi 8. I walked past it several times and nothing registered.

Rico Suave,

Avoid staying on Soi 15, for now. Loud Construction. Or you can cross your fingers and ask the Manhatten front desk bitches, if you could have a room on the non construction side. Might cost some extra baht tip. Try the President Park short Term apartments.
