I like the Honey too (see my previous posts) but on one occasion when I was checkin' out the receptionist said, "Anything from the mini bar, sir?". "Nothing" was my reply. Then the receptionist telephoned somebody and in Thai she asked them to check the mini bar in the room that I just vacated! I told her that this wasn't polite and she walked away without even looking at me (lost face I s'pose). Another lady came up to replace the receptioist and apologised but why didn't the receptionist apologise? Do Thais think that it's possible to die of embarassment? Cheers

@ Brocher Yeah, they seem to have a real big problem with their face, even in modern cities like BKK (especially in hotels like Honey). I heard stories from friends, who work with Thai ppl and I must say, I would go crazy within some days. High class hotels like Sheraton or Intercontinental doesnīt seem to have such a problem. Maybe the staff is trained abroad or their is an operation, where they put their "face" out of them. So letīs take this thing as a cultural speciality and keep enjoying your trips to Thailand. When Iīm there, I always remember the words mai pen rai, when Iīm annoyed of things like that. @Dr Love Never stayed in Asoke Place. Heard thatīs a well known short time hotel. How much is the rate?
