I have stayed at the Westin twice for a total of 10 days. I have never had a problem. The only time I saw people being looked at was when they were drunk, too loud or with an ugly girl or with a real looker. The location I find is great, close to Cowboy and Nana is easily walkable. The staff helped me track down restaurants and bars. They even pointed me to a great drop off laundry place, cross the street to the Sheraton side and walk west towards Nana. Take a left at the first street (I think it is soi 12) and there it is. Hit the bar a couple of times with my girl of the night and the staff were as friendly as if I was alone. I also like the view out of the large windows. I ate in the bar once and the main restaurant twice for breakfast and both places were good but pricier than you can find out of the hotel. I liked the pool. I did not try the karaoke bar (Horizons I think it is called) on the top floor which must have a great view. Anybody have any info on it? The rooms are quiet and newly renovated. The beds are very comfortable. Also the towels are very soft. Overall I would put this hotel on a par with the JW Marriott and a small notch under the Sheraton Grande. You can get the hotel on Priceline for $60-80 US and they sometimes have specials on their website like buy 2 nights with an Amex card and get the third night free. For those who wanted more info, that is about all I can say about the Westin. Herodotis

I was able to get the Westin on Priceline last week for late October for a $60 bid, after failing on the Shangri-La for $55. Hadn't stayed there before, but I'm anxious to compare it to JW Marriott & Sheraton Grande. In particular, I enjoyed the deep soaking tub in the Sheraton rooms. I'll be quite disappointed if I miss American football on cable @midnite on Monday, which was absent from the Shang (although they had MNF on Tues morning).

I had stayed at the Westin many times under its previous name of Delta Grand Pacific or whatever. They have really upgraded most things now except the bathrooms, which are virtually the same... not that it matters. I had a bad experience once with guards giving me sh*t when I returned with my GF and I complained to the duty manager who corrected it. Again, that was under the old regime. The bar at the Westin is talked about in another thread... has some of the most beautiful waitresses in BKK! they are super friendly and I would love to hear if anyone has had any luck with them. Main buffet restaurant is ok. Not a big fan of buffet and didn't care for the 'wondering minstrals' they have playing music there. The Walk of Shame... is just that. Those people who watch you walk to the elevator with the 2 bargirls you just brought back, should be ashamed of themselves! Make them get their own!

I have been trying to get the Westin on priceline for $65 and $70 for October 31-November 4, but have had no luck. Would take any 5-star, but nothing comes up. Anyone else have luck?

Canyon, Keep trying or bid higher. I have tried bidding for 2 months for a 5* in Hong Kong during a Chinese holiday with no luck and 2 days before I travelled I got something. Hotels do not always give rooms in the same numbers for each month. Try other areas in the 5* range. The Shangri La comes up a lot. Make a reservation elsewhere in case but keep bidding. Good Luck. Herodotis, Thank you for the encouragement. I've heard others get 5-star for $65-$80, but I've heard that November is a busy month. Your suggestion to make regular reservations, but to keep trying priceline is a good one. Canyon

I got my reservation with priceline for my stay 28. August 2 Sept 2004 for 500 HK$ at the Hongkong site. Hotel is great and the rooms they give you as a starwood member are good for this price. The only thing I didnītlike is the walk of shame... Maybe next time I select the girl better. ciao

I have stayed at the Westin the past year, what equals to about a month. I have never had any hassles bringing girls up to my room 1,2,3 girls at a time. The only hassle I ever got was once when I tried to bring 5 girls at once. I ended up cutting 3 from the team, and brought up two. I have always started my nights off with a drink or two at the bar on the 25th floor. I know all the girls up there, and one of them is my "GF" when I am in town. She tells me that all the girls will be very friendly, and always tell you that they do not have boyfriend. Besides the fact that it is their job to talk to customers, they are all very nice girls. If you stay in the same hotel they will not dare to ever meet you in your room at the Westin. They are all normal girls there. They turn down many offers from serious high rollers who drink there. Two thumbs up for the Westin, and I much rather stay there then the Sheraton. Better Beds, Rooms, Service, and Staff. Unfortunately I have to stay at the Sheraton now if I want to sleep with Westin employee.

Canyon: I don't know if this helps you or not, but I got Westin for three nights during November at $65 on Priceline, but booked a few months ago.

Staying at Westin right now and have no complains. Brought "friends" to room 1,2,3 times and no hassle at all. Guess it is a double play - walk in without comment and in a nice stylish way and it is accepted. Everyone very friendly. Rooms are nice but right now there is some disturbance in the morning from renovations. The japanese restaurant was great as well as the other rest. Also went to the Karaoke bar on 25th floor. Great view over our beloved city and the most friendly lovely ladies work there. Not for pick though - I think, perhaps Iīm wrong?? Not fancy to sing myself but they have a hefty soundsystem. Sounds very good and perhaps just enjoy a drink and listen to others trying?! Would certainly return! Oh - BTW: There is a nice Italian restaurant next door named "Gritty". Supposed to be one of the best around. Will test it this week.
