Wow...how things are changing, I have never paid more than 950 baht for the manhattan for example and did so again just two weeks ago. I always book online in advance and so never get charged their usual 'rip off' walk in rates of 1600 baht.

So how is it? Rooms, pools etc? The location looks great, so I'm considering to give it a try in July.

Majestic Grande is a fine place. I've only stayed in the deluxe rooms before but heading there next week and trying out the Majestic Grande suite. Apparently 2-bedroom, 240 sq metres, putting green on the balcony, balcony jacuzzi as well as jacuzzis in both bathrooms, 42' plasmas in each room etc.
Has anyone tried it before and know if it is as nice as it appears?

I stayed at MG in May and will stay there again in July.
I stayed in different rooms due to upgrades (free)
- Grande superior.
- Grande superior executive floor.
- Grande premier.
The Grande premier rooms are very good IMO, you really have the space to move etc... nice deco too and nice king size bed.
Will stay in grande deluxe but I already visited them and they
are very nice.
They are already refurbishing the grande premier rooms right now.
I booked via a BKK based (online) reservation site which offers very good prices (not the one on display but just mail the owner and you will get the discount).
Hotel:
- Service: Top and I mean really top with the little friendly touch without being indiscreet.
- Rooms: Perfectly clean I got 3 upgrades due to some minor details I disliked.
(I must mention that the miss was impressed by the room)
Small detail I like is the electronic control panel which allows to completly turn off the TV so if the miss wants to watch TV you simply switch discreetly the button on your panel and she can try everything the TV will not switch on)
Only minor flaw for me (but this is the case in many BKK hotels I stayed in except banyan tree), the soundproof isolation is not always perfect, especially when an katoey is in the room next to yours.
- Facilities: great and modern, even the swimming pool is not so small.
- Food & beverages: Nice service, nice breakfast (they change some plates from day to day especially the thai dishes) although not a huge choice the breakfast was decent (when I was able to take it....)
- Lifts/elevators: there are only 2 but they are quite fast, never had to wait more than 1 min except when one of them was out of order but they repaired it within 10 min and offered the waiting guests a cocktail.....
Small details I like:
- ID card and BG/TG: they take the ID of the lady except if you ask them not to and they will happily comply.
- No too big walk of shame and no staff raised a eyebrows
(except one of the public relations lady who I was flirting with)
- Lovely ladies in the staff and you can even get invited to dinner etc.... by them but always be polite, clean etc....
Some stunners too.
- Customers: there are quite a few punters, some arabic people and a mix of families-businessmen etc....
All the people I met were friendly and polite so no blokes...
I like this hotel

I am currently staying at the hotel and would have to agree with everything stephane says except the swimming pool. Personally I think its very small but that is not a complaint.
All in all a very nice hotel.
