I think that is called a Yagi style antenna, it is directional. Cisco makes some very good ones.

Updates on the Centre Point internet situation:
- After my last stay, I sent a detailed e-mail to the manager, including a list of ports that I would require to have opened in order for video conferencing to work - as well as explanations on why these ports do not constitute a risk.
- The manager responded, mentioning that he would pass it on to his IT.
During my stay over that past few weeks, I noted that the previously unavailable video chatting now worked perfectly - hence, the manager did come through with flying colors!
There were some bandwidth issues, i.e. access was slowing on occasion, but then again the place was close to fully booked, so I'm assuming more people were using it. It worked well for what I was foing with it.
Overall, a great resolution, and positive experience, with a very professional establishment.

P.S. Their pool is currently being renovated, and they have floor-by-floor renovations going on that should conclude in January - so there's some work noise that you will inevitably hear - only during the day, though. Not an issue to me, but it might be an issue for others.

i am at center pointe wireless road, for a year now. now renovations here. Until recently I have been using a Socks2Http tunnel with a socksifier to allow me access to ftp ports.
Yesterday I saw the manager and mentioned this to her. Today, port 21 is open and I can ftp.
(Please dont use this as a invitation to trojan)
now my http://www.luckyinthailand.com website is back up. But for the good pictures you need the password.
