going to stay at the Marriot first time in August.
Think I need the treat.
Any recent changes on their disrete girl-friendliness ?
What I just read in this thread sounds very good.
And the pool-area ?
Going to take my beauty there for sure. no problem I guess ?

The JW used to be my choice years ago. No more. Although you will not get any problems (can't say that from personal experience in recent years, only from the past), the prices went to a level that its not worth it. Lendmark is my choice now (really close to ground zero). You can also look at the Majestic Grand just behind the JW. Almost 1/2 price and as good. Since you alread booked that room with the JW, I assume you cannot change your reservation so enjoy! If you can change, go for the Lendmark. Enjoy!

For my sins Oldtimer still stays at the JW.
I tried Landmarlk on one occasion and very nice room with open window to the bathroom, but I guess I have just been a JW regular for too many years.
And yes, I still enjoy the Chile Charnonnay they serve in the executive lounge with all the tirmmings @ 1800 hrs.
Also there has NEVER been a problem with all the TGs one has imported over the years, often a couple at a time to fill the king sized beds with their half dozen firm pillows.

Hey Oldtimer how are you mate? Long time no see.. hope you are swell. Its odd because the Landmark is less expensive than the JW. If you factor in the breakfast for two that is included in the Landmark's room rate (e.g. from asiarooms.com) vs. no breakfast at the Marriott, the difference is even larger (a breaky is 600-700 bhat per person incl. tax in these places, and you pay same for single or double so might as well get the double and enjoy two breaky). I suppose you are uprgraded to the exec level, which is OK, but you can get same treatment if you are a regular at the Landmark (even getting a suite while paying for superior room but you really need be known to all and be a nice guy over all of course  . It was a great hotel before the price hikes. Today at $170 for a room (rate before the Nov 1 prime time), its way overpriced. For GF you get the same treatment at the Majestic Grand and you pay 1/2 or less than 1/2 the price of the JW including breaky. So overall, I know you like your happy hour and the food in the exec level, but really its not worth it... think about it though, however you may have enough money in your pockets not to worry about such things...

the Marriott has been great for me.
I hit nana plaza at 8pm for ST, come back, shower shower and then out again at 10.
the room is often straightened up with towels replaced by the time I return at midnight with teerak number two.
No problem whatsoever.

As a member of the Marriott gym I often see guests with bar girls by the pool. The staff generally treat them with respect.
Plus it gives me something to look at while on the tread mill.....

No walk of shame at the JW Marriott. Have many guests staying there taking companions back to the room. No problems there.

Once took two Angel Witches back for some hubble, bubble, toil and trouble - no problems whatsoever. JW actually has a funny shaped lobby area which is good for the walk of shame as you don't have to walk accross an enormous lobby with the feeling that 100 eyes are looking at you.

Good to hear from you. I actually like the restaurants better at the Landmark...and they are a lot more reasonable. But Oldtimer has been a JW regular since the place was built so one gets a pretty good rate on the executive floors; although certainy a much higher rate than during the Sares crisis a year or two back (or was it more?).
Having said that often my routine is escorting a new TG from Nana to the downstairs pub in the Landmark and then on to more serious stuff at the JW. Silly routine but having seen over 70 summers/winters, its a little tough to change one's habits.
Trouble is its not so easy to reel in a new TG in one's favorite Nana watering holes, since the lassies of nights past tend to do the "eye spy" trick. Oh well, RB 4 yielded a couple of new sleeping partners on my last viist who were worth keeping for three nights. Please don't inquire about their names, since I didn't commit them to memory...but you can count on them remembering Oldtimer....worst luck.
