Some hotels tell you that they are getting an authorization block for a certain amount, just to ensure that your credit card will have the funds to pay the hotel bill when you check out. Just in case you go and max it out on shopping or partying during your stay.  I remember getting 25,000 B authorization block when I stayed at Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, and it was for just 1 night (at 5,000 B/night).

ALL members please be informed,, when staying in certain 4 star hotels, they will require you to have $130 available on your card.
Sorry prabal,, but I think it would be acceptable business practice for the hotel to expect a person staying at a 4 star hotel to have 130 dollars.
I have often been asked to leave that amount registered, but not charged to my credit card as an insurance for the hotels mini-bar etc.
BK gets asked for $800 because the hotel owners have seen the gals he is often with and assume he is kept penny-less.

I said this before, but will again: I like MG, but their main problem is that they are overselling their rooms, like:
- If you book and pay for a premier room (35 sqm), you get a standard room (29 sqm)
- If you book a delux room (40 sqm), you get a premier room.
I do not say they do this as a rule, but it happened to me on two out of two stays.
First time, I booked a premier room, but quickly saw that this was not 35 sqm. I told the reception, they pointed to a room chart, "yes, a premier room, for sure!". I got a little bit pissed, so I went out and bought myself a measurement tape, it was 29 sqm. I told the head of reception of my findings, still same answer: "It is a premier room". So I went online, printed pictures (the premier room has a lounge) and sizes from the web, went down again, and was upgraded to a delux room, that by size was really a premier room (35 sqm).
The year after, I got a free upgrade to a premier room, and you got it - 29 sqm again.
I told the reception, he did the same jumbu-mumbo as always.
I asked him: "Are you telling me I am lying?"
"I want to believe you," he replied.
As this was a free upgrade, I did not go further.

If im in town I always stay at the PB never had any problems with credit card checks pay with cash. Beer and condoms are arranged in a whisper.
Majestic grande is a waste of money for me I only go room to f*** or sleep. Have stayed at the top end places but I cant see the point. Anyway the wife complains if I book at any posh places she much prefers a 3* place.I booked a 5* once never again complaining about everything and then she spends the whole trip on upper sukomvit with the family in their box.
Win win situation she thinks I will save money to buy her gold and I know im saving money for pussy and st hotels.
There are funny situations though last trip one of my step daughters 18 yrs old came round dressed up like a bar girl waiting for her mother.So the wife comes back to the room and the staff would not let her come up thought I had ordered a short time, hilarious. They were all over themselves to save face after all im the one paying the bill. But I never shit on my own yard thats why PB is a good 2nd choice.

Now staying MG. Grande Delux room on the 18th floor. There is a internet connection but would not be able to make a comment on the speed as I am not carrying my laptop.
Bathtub and shower cubicle separate. The cubicle has granite tiles and is not very clean. Water and soap stains were very visible even before I had used it.
Breakfast was fine for me. The pool had sun in the morning, but there could be shade as the day goes on.
Definitely girl friendly, lot of farangs and their TG in the breakfast table. My overnight eden girl arrived on time. So no problems at all.
A credit card impression was taken at check in time.
